I'm sure other have also noticed that the car's licence plate can almost be mirrored: Y38 BCY - looks pretty much the same when flipped horizontally.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Cool.
So the moral is: don't get a license plate number that can be mirrored, unless you're prepared to deal with the freaky consequences.

You noticed that the right-half, the mirror image, is not quite the same. You could say the reflection is imperfect, less than the original.
