Blu-ray?

Have any of these Horrorfest films ever come out on Blu-ray?

The cinematography in "The Broken" was really beautiful and I don't feel like plopping down $ on the upcoming DVD.

None of these have come out on Blu-ray. And even worse news, I picked up a copy of The Broken last weekend (store broke street date) and Lionsgate has cropped the 2:35:1 aspect ratio to 1:78:1, so the beautiful cinematography is now muddy and cramped. I'm waiting for it to come out in the UK and check the aspect ratio on that version. I hate when this happens and Lionsgate does it a lot.

If ever there was a horror movie that deserved to be on Blu-ray, due to its visuals, it's The Broken.

Just goes to show how cheap After Dark is, to ruin a good looking movie by putting it on DVD.

Horror fans are used to being neglecting when it comes to things like this though.

The Broken was also shot in anamorphic 2.40 and by cropping it to 1.78 is every bit as bad as cropping a 1.85 film to 1.33 (or 4X3 TV aspect ratio). It is such a beautiful looking movie and to alter its aspect ratio is a travesty. You can feel all the compositions are off when you're watching it -- and the narrow depth of field and elliptical shaped lights in the backgrounds are all dead giveaways of the anamorphic format. Lionsgate and After Dark Films suck unbelievable a s s for treating their viewers this way. Thanks for opening the door back into the dark ages of pan and scan.

I've got a check disc for the UK release at home. It's a Universal disc over here, but I haven't checked the AR. I'll have a look tonight and let you all know what it is.

The UK disc is Scope all the way through.

Sweet! I'm going to order the UK version and sell the Afterdark version. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh man, I just realized that my Blu-ray of the film isn't in the correct aspect ratio. While it says 2.35:1 on the case, it fills up my 16:9 TV's entire screen and thus can't be that. So annoying.

I considered buying the British dvd for the correct aspect ratio, but if I do that I might not be able to enjoy the Blu-ray anymore, knowing what's being left out of the picture. And watching the dvd I'll be annoyed that the quality isn't as good. Still, the right aspect ratio should be more important, so I guess I'll have to get the dvd, too.

The Australian BluRay is in the correct aspect ratio with Dolby TrueHD audio. I own it. It's good!
