Alas, misogyny at work again

One of many movies (unfortunately) that shows violence towards women and not the men.
When a woman dies they show it graphically but when a man dies they do not show how, just a dead body. That to me is misogynistic.
Otherwise would’ve been a more balanced movie.
The real Broken are the makers of this movie and others like it.

Exactly! Thanks for stating it so well. I am sick of movies with graphic deaths of women and much less threatening deaths for men. Women in movies often die in realistic ways. Such as in a parking lot by a violent stranger. Something that could really happen. But men die in unrealistic ways that could never happen. Aliens kill them. They are drug dealers (which most viewers aren't) and so they choose that lifestyle. Or if killed realistically there is something about them that makes it Ok to kill them, as they are not valuable people. They are gay, bald, fat, black, hippies etc. But ALL women are seen as non valuable and Ok to kill graphically. The most valuable person in movie land is a good looking, heterosexual, white male. They are like gods who are untouched in parking lots by passing muggers. Maybe because the people MAKING the movies and shows are these types of people and don't want to see THEMSELVES injured in some realistic scary way. Just everyone who is NOT them. Gross.

From memory, there was only two murders shown....

The first one was the girl in the shower (kate). Probably partially shown to get some nudity for ratings, while also shown to confirm the doppelgangers are real and not in the head of the main character....

The only other 'murder' shown was the main character....

We only found out Stefan was one after he was dead (so they could never show his murder unless Gina was there, otherwise it would be a flashback without Gina or a spoiler). Daniel never died. That left out only one person, Dr. Robert Zachman.... And they probably did not want to show it to keep open the possibility he was still alive + keeping the suspense up with Gina and Stephan creeping up on her...

Either way, I think this entire topic is silly. You are looking for something to be angry about. Because I can think of plenty of movies were men have been brutally killed....

Yeah, they should point their sensitivity someplace else. Like why don't we see the chests of the male characters?

Stephan was the first murder in the family & circle of lovers. They just showed his dead body, but didn't show the murder. I think that's what the OP is talking about.

Fetishized with nudity, no less...I wonder how these filmmakers' girlfriends and wives feel, watching that?

Uggh.

Alas, political correctness at work again.

Another way to look at this is that the strongest character was female.

The dad, boyfriend, and brother were pretty wimpy. We all knew all along that the only chance of winning was Gina. She was clearly the smartest and strongest character.

So keep that in mind before getting too upset at the filmmakers.
