Even though you can't beat Carpenters film. This was a decent remake that works as a standalone film and prelude to the real story.

I really liked the 2011 Prequel.

I agree, it is a good movie. I don't understand the hate from all 1982 fans.
Even though it is strange that American scientists would be consulted before the norwegian military secured the outpost.
Not bad but not close to being near as good as Carpenters. My biggest problem with it is the giant plot hole they just forgot about that could have been forgiven if they were not trying so hard to make it a prequel. In the original the norg guys were filming vhs tapes of blowing the ship up out of the ice. No tapes in this film are mentioned and they dont mention the thermite charges that expose it. Just lazy film making.
