1. Does the alien live in the actual persons body or replicate a whole new body? If that's the case where are the "original" bodies?
2. If it can't recreate inorganic material why are all the things wearing clothes?
Please don't yell at me I was quite tired when I watched this.
johnpaultisi - 1st off, this is a prequel to the 1982 film, The Thing. Stating that because there's more info there that might answer your questions. And it's a kick a$$ film!
The Thing replicates it's host.
Now, from what we all see on film, it does not discard the body it imitates. Seems to me however, that which ever host's identity it assumes are a fantastic source of calories to imitate that host.
- Note what happened under the microscope - we see the "host" cells being taken over by the alien cells.
I think it rips your clothes when it takes you over... It's wearing clothes because that's what the original host humans would have done. NOT wearing clothes would be a hell of an indicator that something was wrong with that guy or gal!
