He's shown alive alone somewhere on the base holding a lantern before Dr Sanders gets attacked and while Kate and Sam are searching for the thing. Then nothing, we don't see him get killed and he's never seen again.
shareColin's death scene is in the deleted scenes on the DVD. He is actually the frozen dead man that both MacReady and Dr. Copper found at the Norwegian Base in the 1982 movie with his arms and throat slashed by a razor.

By the way, "Dr Sanders" is not the name of the character that was attacked by the Split/Face-Thing before that last scene with Colin holding the lantern. At the beginning of the movie, the character actually introduced himself to Kate as "Dr. Sander Halvorson".
