Well, after seeing Harbinger Down this seems a lot more watchable.

I'm no fan of this prequel. I consider The Thing my favorite horror movie, which is a decision not easily made from such an avid movie lover such as myself with tons of different favorites. But I find that The Thing represents many of the best aspects out of horror movies, and it stands out as a remarkably great movie. I remember a time when it had 7.8 on IMDB and I found that to be criminally low and wishes that it would be rated into the top 250. Finally, that has been done justice. Anyways, Harbinger Down. Eh. Prequel's better.

I actually enjoyed "HARBINGER DOWN" for what it was!
I also liked Lance Henriksen in it.

What more (or less) would you have asked for this prequel?

reply

Yeah, I really like the 2011 Prequel as well.
I even bought it back when it first came out on DVD.

The Studio NOT hacking away the Practical Effects that were so crucial to the feel of the film and flooding CGI into this to make it more "Scary." I don't mind this film, it just fell victim to the BS. Carpenter showed the Blueprint, they used it, then discarded it.

after putting my pecker into the washing machine your post seems less bad in comparison.

The prequel had some cool scenes. It also sets up the original pretty well. It just lacked suspense and tension with all the characters and the deaths. Harbinger Down was just an awful movie. The practical effects would have been cool if they werent shown in 2 second bursts or in shakey cam.
