Thanks for the article. I LOVE these Jesse Stone movies and I LOVE Tom Selleck as Jesse. I have taped ALL 4 movies and can't wait for the 5th. I wish it was a series.
I have, and I highly recommend them. They differ slightly from the movies, and they stand well on their own. Obviously, you have to drop a lot of stuff from the book to make a 90 minute movie, but the writers and producers do a good job of capturing the spirit of the books. I did find "Sea Change" to be a better book than the movie, but that plot was very different than what you saw on screen.
Parker is a great mystery writer...though I would recommend getting his books from the library. They're pretty quick reads!
To me the best thing they can do with the movies is to make sure they try and keep Robert B. Parker's dialogue as much as possible. That's where he excels at, more than most writers.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing.
