How the hell!?

... did this movie get a 7.2 rating!!!??? I saw it cause my mom practically made me, and i didnt like it at all. And also im having trouble understanding the plot(?) If the security guard at the bank "hit what he was aiming for", how come the cashier got shot!? insane. Are u telling me that the sister swapped place with the cashier and posed as a cashier at the robbing and therefor the security guard shot the bankrobber who was infact the cashier!? How stupid is that? To ad to that the sister didnt go to a hospital to save her sister but instead buried her, but before she undressed her(!) and changed clothes and then took the money. How cold blooded isnt that. And what about the other case, the "rape". What did it have to do with the plot at all! It was totally irrelevant and, yes, it was stupid. Why would a 18 year old girl have sex with an old guy and then lie she was raped? I mean if she was so ashamed why not keep it to herself like a normal person. Why tell the whole world!? Also if she felt so strong hearted about the whole sex thing why did she do it in the first place? Was she druged or what?

The movie looked like a bad TV-show with extremely poor editing, especially the fading snapshoots, the only point in the movie that i laughed. Why did the hitman assault Jesse and then run away? was it a warning of some kind? I didnt get that part of the movie. And why did he wait so long to try to kill Jesse? was he making his mind up or was he retarded just like this movie..

The movie adresses Jesse's drinking problem but it dosent solve or develop the issue. Jesse gets advice to concentrate on a case to stop drinking and he does concentrate but he dosent stop the drinking.

What poor cop dont show a badge when requested!? Its not a "cool cop" thing, its more to the corrupted and just bad cop acting. There are rules Mr Jesse Stone and even you must obey them. And why the civilian outfit and police cruiser?? Either go vice or stay in uniform pal. Why didnt he report the assault (and if he did it didnt show in the film as he was telling people he fell)? If he dosent beleive in the justice system how can he then serve it properly. Another proof of this bad cop who goes to work late and with a hangover.

This was surely a B-movie but are people rating it among the b-movies or cant they just admit they want it to be good cause the books were, or cause they love the character. Someone please answer that. Cause its not worth a 7.2!

I rated it a 3 of 10 mainly cause the failing plot.

Sorry for my poor english, it is not my native.

Your mommy made you watch it? No wonder you are so cranky. Have some milk and cookies and then take a nap. You'll feel better.

Bless your heart poker patrik....you will have no regrets when standing at your Mom's grave....hopefully many years from now. And how humble of you to take the advice of the other nasty poster suggesting cookies and milk. You are one nice guy!!!

Try Disney films. You might be able to follow the story a lot more easily...well, maybe. Actually, probably not.

The sister who was alive was the bank teller. She convinced her sister to come home from California to help her rob the bank. The sister who came home from Cali was dressed as a male bank robber, and yes the guard hit the person he was aiming for. When she died the sister who was the teller used it as an opportunity to assume her identity.

AGREED! this movie is complete garbage and among the worst i have ever seen.

I liked it. Not boring, moved along nicely. I gave it an 8 out of 10.

Original poster Poker Patrik, I will address your points. Albiet 5 years later LOL. The reason I liked this movie is because it had surprises. Usually you can see the plot twists from a mile away, but this movie had legitimate surprises. Perhaps they sacrificed a little bit of the logic, or at least likelihoods, for the surprises....but IMO that's okay. The plot still made decent sense.
SPOILERS: You already revealed the spoilers, but I will address them. I was surprised that the lady Stone had a date with had switched identities. That was a good surprise. I was also surprised that the 18-year-old wasn't really raped. That wasn't a huge deal or a huge dramatic thing, which actually is kind of nice for a change. Not every story-within-a-story has to be totally dramatic. Like I said, it's kind of nice when a subplot just turns out to be kind of normal. There was still drama when Stone's lady partner slapped the sleazy guy. The hit-man surprised Stone a couple times mainly for jolts for the audience, nothing much more really. As for Stone's drinking problem, I'm glad they don't over-address it, like make him go into rehab or something. And lastly, Stone acts a little inconsistently; that's just how he is. It doesn't have to make 100% sense.
So enjoy these movies for the Stone character, as well as some surprising cases. Especially just for Stone himself, the atmosphere, and just how he is.

jmichael3387 - I agree except for the false rape accusation. That can ruin a man's life, and if the accusation is false beyond any doubt then the accuser should be held responsible for their actions. That was my biggest problem with this movie, sure the guy was sleazy, so what? What she tried to do to him was criminal.

Some crime movies are whodunits. They are like a game of Clue. Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie spring to mind. The characters are more like chess pieces than they are like people.

Some crime movies are about the characters. In these, the crime is secondary in some films or of no importance in others. Hitchcock ("MacGuffins") and film noir spring to mind. In such movies, the story is all about the characters and their relationships and flaws and emotions.

Jesse Stone movies are more about the characters than the crimes, but they weave a minimalist whodunit plot or two into the cloth, and spice things up without bogging us down in tedious details and complicated plots. It's this minimalist approach that piques our interest. When combined with character flaws and foibles, the plot twists are more about the human condition than they are about the chess pieces.

So your complaints are you don't understand the movie and you want everything neatly wrapped up for you all the time. The issues are yours, not the movie's.

I hope you grow to like this type of movie. Where the plot and sub plot is subtle. The Jesse Stone TV series are good stuff for TV movies.
