I didn't think Showtime could destroy a franchise more than Dexter

but they did it......thanks to Levon. What a god awful final season.

Oh boy do I disagree with you on this. Dexter's series finale was 1000 times worse then Californication. In fact I liked the way Cali ended.

I agree with both of you. Levon wad a terrible character. Liked the idea of Hank having a son he didn't know about, but the character was written terribly. He was so annoying and cringe worthy at best.

However I feel that they stuck the ending of Californiacation but I have tried so hard (and to no avail) to forget the Dexter finale.

Dexter was such a great series even though I had to fast forward quite a bit of it because of the gore:) They did it no justice with that horrible series finale. I think it was the worst one yet. People complained about the way Lost ended but this made the Lost Finale into a terrific ending.

The reason why the ending of Dexter was bottled fell on Showtime. The writers had an ending written up in which Dexter died by lethal injection (or the chair) and before he passed away he saw visions of all those he's met along the way who since passed away.

At least that's what I think it was, but Showtime refused the idea and decided that they weren't allowed to kill Dexter. Hence the hurried ending. The ending was dreadful.

It will take a very very very long time (if it ever happens) for a (once great) show to end as poorly as Dexter did.

Just my $0.02.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

The difference is, with Dexter you really only have to ignore the final episode and you still have a series that was fairly consistently good. With Californication you have to ignore, at the very least, the entire final season and quite a bit of seasons 5 and 6 to be able to say the same thing.

Once season 5 of this show began, it was clear that they wanted to just completely throw out all the story that came before it, have a big time jump, and dive right into some stupidity. They basically decided to just skip over all the consequences of the trial and skip straight to some new shenanigans, and the show was all downhill from there.

So yeah, I have to agree with the original post... Dexter had a terrible final episode, but Californication had a terrible three seasons to end a show that had four great ones.

The first transport is away... hey!

Lupin I so agree with you. Season 5 had some ok moments but most of it was crap. Seasons 6 and 7 were far worse. Anyone who starts watching this series just stop at 4 and let that be the real ending. Leveon could have been casted as Charlie's long lost kid but for Hank it made zero fn sense.
