Will someone please explain to me why we were supposed to feel sorry for Jesse during those six months? I personally enjoyed it, he deserved it after he not only didn’t get in the van like Walt said but ratted as well.
Jesse is not really a bad guy even though he has done bad things over the course of the series (I mean he's a drug dealer after all). He is shown to have his heart in the right place but his head in the wrong one. He clearly has a fondness for children and shows remorse, regret and anger when the kids die on account of activities he's a part of, and wants out of the meth business by the end. Unlike Walt he becomes more in touch with his humanity as the show goes on. Whether you feel sympathy for him when he is made a slave is down to you, I guess you could say he deserves it for the bad he has done in his life, but I think he also deserves the freedom he eventually gets and the chance to start afresh.
Jesse was still the one who peddled meth, stole a man's life savings and spent it on strippers, shot an unarmed man in the face, palled up with a murderous drug lord/child killer, sold meth to his rehab group, swindled his parents out of $400,000 (although they were kind of asking for it), covered up the death of a 14 year old boy, and ratted.
Yeah he did some bad stuff, I'm not denying that. As I say, I think he becomes more well-meaning about things as the show goes on, and the shooting of Gale was to protect Walt (or was it both he and Walt, I can't remember?). He is at least shown to be affected by deaths he is either directly or indirectly responsible for, as opposed to Walt who just sociopathically gets on with his life and continues with the meth making like it's another day.
Did I feel sorry for him being a meth slave? I guess I did because deep down he is a good guy at heart, and was being tortured and held against his will by people a lot worse than him. If you didn't then fair enough and you can even justify it, like you've mentioned with all the bad things he's done in his young life. Do you think he deserved to continue being held captive and see out his days that way until his death or murder? The way I see it, if that was his punishment for being a nefarious character, then he had rightly served it when he was set free by Walt. Perhaps Walt having arguably performed worse activities than Jesse and being old enough to know better with a family, deserved his punishment of losing his family and his cancer coming back. Differing punishments that fit the differing levels of wrongdoing.
And as we know in El Camino, being Todd's meth slave did him some good and toughened him up. I had to hand it to him in El Camino, he was a badass and was solving his problems on his own. I was proud of him.
If Jesse hadn’t palled up with Gus (you know a child killer) after Walt literally saved his life then giving Brock a tummy ache wouldn’t have been necessary. Brock’s tummy ache is all on Jesse and Walt is Jesse’s guardian angel.
He had keep working with Gus or else both himself and Jesse WOULD BE MURDERED!!!! Did you even pay attention.
And regardless of whether or not Walt worked with Todd is irrelevant, Walt isn’t the one bitching and moaning about a tummy ache, Jesse was so therefore it is hypocritical of him to pal up with Gus.
If anyone needs to pay more attention it’s you, little man.
Jesse wanted to pay for his sins, he ratted like a coward, I honestly don’t know why he had such a problem being a meth slave.
Ummmm he killed Gus’s two drug dealers (saving Jesse’s ass BTW) and then murdered his boyfriend, uh yeah he pretty much did sever ties, he only kept working to keep Jesse safe. Had Walt not worked Jesse would have been killed.
Are you trolling me or are you really this retarded?
FYI: You’re also arguing a non sequitur. Whether or not Walt palled up with a child killer is irrelevant because Walt wasn’t the one getting his panties in a wad over a kid getting a tummy ache. Walt working with Gus doesn’t make him a hypocrite however it does make Jesse a hypocrite.
Why are you arguing that Walt’s lack of remorse over poisoning a child or partnering with Todd is a positive attribute? Seeking redemption is a worse quality for a person than sociopathy? Changing who you are doesn’t make your hypocrite (it’s seeing the error in your way), espousing a value and pretending to be virtuous when you aren’t does. Jesse actually owned up claiming to know who he was “the bad guy” as he does in his stint in rehab. Walt pretended to care about his family and children but put them in harm’s way throughout the course of the series… Walt is most certainly a hypocrite.
Jessie was selfish, immature, and foolish, but he was not evil at his core. His was like so many kids that I knew in Florida growing up, desperately trying to convince others that the fantasy version of themselves was a reality.
Many people have a chance to grow out of this phase. Jessie got in too deep to have that chance.
I dunno I always felt Jesse just got in way over his head. He was a punk kid, sure, but as the show evolved you could see he wasn't cut out for the business. He was a nickel and dime guy in a million-dollar business.
By rat, you mean, actually face the consequences of your destructive behavior and the crimes you committed. So pro-slavery, pro-murder, pro-crime, gotcha. Oh and pro-Nazi as you’d prefer they not face the consequences of their crimes either.
By ratting I mean reaping the benefits of the drug industry for years but then when things get a little bit tough you go crying to the feds. It’s the most cowardly thing you can do and rats deserve whatever comes to them.
Except he didn’t go to the feds when things were tough for him, he went to the feds when he had millions in cash and a means to walk away clean. He sacrificed that to take down a murderous sociopath. He had a code, “just don’t hurt kids”. I think it’s a better code than the false notion of honor amongst thieves.
Jesse doesn’t give a crap about kids, if he did he wouldn’t have tried to burn the house down knowing full well Junior and Holly could have been inside, he also wouldn’t have palled up with Gus who literally had a child murdered. Jesse’s just a gutless pussy. And Hank would have either shot him or arrested him had he not ratted, Jesse felt the heat and couldn’t take it so he literally cried to Hank about how mean Mr. White was. Jesse got what he deserved and as we know from the El Camino Coda, being Todd’s meth slave toughened him up, I was actually quite proud of him.
You also conveniently are forgetting when Walt suggested to Saul that Jesse get arrested to prevent problems for him, kinda rat behavior if you ask me.
