Walt sending Jesse to kill Gale was pretty much the last straw for me. Couldn't really feel bad about anything that happened to either one of them after that. They were pretty much gangsters at that point. They certainly were no better than Gus or anybody in the Cartel.
It was Gale or them. If put in the same situation, I'd make that choice too. Gus was going to kill them both and replace them with Gale. It's a tough spot to be in but they did what they had to do to survive
Except Walt could have went to the DEA and likely got immunity for everything by telling them about Gus. Jesse even tried to persuade him to do so, but Walt shot the idea down. He chose cold-blooded murder (even if reluctantly so) over coming clean, it wasn't like he had absolutely no alternative.
I did feel bad for poor gale. He didnt know gus's intentions of replacing Walt with gale were because he wanted to kill Walt, and instead gave gale the story about Walt likely dying from his cancer. I get what youre saying that it was unfortunate that he became a victim of Walt and Jesse, but what were they supposed to do? Just let themselves be killed? Not saying that what they did was ethical obviously but its human nature to do whatever it takes to survive.
I also look at it as gale (probably) knew the dangers involved in being mixed up in the criminal underworld. There's no guarantee that you'll be safe when you get involved with high profile drug dealers and criminals. If he didnt want to potentially risk his life, he should have got into another line of work. In that lifestyle, youre always going to be at some level in danger of getting arrested, badly hurt or even killed.
Its likely gale was simply too naive, but he should have known what could possibly come out of working with Gus, a meth dealing drug kingpin.

I'm sure that Gale was given that choice upon finishing his degree, since he was likely aware of who his benefactor was throughout the process. Not that Gale knew Fring was a meth kingpin but that Fring was behind the Max Arciniega scholarship. Gale definitely chose his post-graduate path and it ultimately got him killed.

lol? It was very clear from the acting in that scene that Gale knew exactly what was going to happen to Walt. He didn't buy Gus' story for a minute, and Gus didn't expect him to it was just a mutual euphemism.
I don't think the last straw for you should have been when Walt had Jesse kill Gale, because at that time, he no longer had any options, since he was taken to the lab to be murdered.
What would make more sense IMO, is if the last straw for you was when just hours earlier, Walt decided that his next move had to be to kill Gale. That was his plan...to go out and kill Gale that night, after Jesse got the address for him. He just happened to get intercepted by Victor, once he went outside.
So then you need to look at what other viable options he had, as Klockard mentions above. Not many, without turning himself in...but as we know with Walt..."Never the DEA".
Thats one of my favorite Walt lines in the entire series. And yeah exactly right I was thinking the same thing. Walt didnt really have a way to reach out to the DEA when he had a gun on him and was moments away from getting executed in the lab. So yeah, if he had gone and gotten the authorities before it had reached that point gale would have been spared.
But I dont think Walt would have EVER turned himself in no matter what. He would get caught or die before that ever happened.
Gale had a decent set of pipes, he should have pursued his true passion: Music lol
If he did, he probably could have avoided getting shot in the face lol
They could have went to the DEA and told them everything. Like I said, they chose the gangster route. The whole point of my post is once they went that route,I couldn't feel sorry about all the stuff that happened to them because they made their choice.Like Carlito told Kleinfield, "You ain't a lawyer no more, you a gangsta now. I Couldn't really care about Walter seeing his brother in law get killed. I didn't care when Jessie saw his girlfriend get killed. Karma is a bitch.
I tend to agree. Somewhere around her Walt went too far. Not only did his character cross to the dark side so much as to make him unlikable, but it also made him unrealistic. The situation with Gale was complicated because it was the best way to save their lives, and arguably Gale would have done the same to them; but even those factors make the outright murder of a nerd pretty bad...
