Walt's Most Awkward Moment

There were many. Here are a few examples. Think of any others?

- Hank gives him the GPS tracker to put on Gus' car and Mike pulls up.

- Standing naked in the grocery store.

- Hearing "IFT" from Skyler.

- When he fires Gale and Jesse shows up..all unprofessional like.

- His failed kiss attempt from Carmen.

- After telling off Hank poolside, meanwhile Junior barfing in the pool.

- Trying to throw the plant thru Ted's window.

"I'm terribly, terribly ashamed of my actions."

Haha, that scene's the bomb. "It's all like shiny up in here!" Although I personally thought Jesse was somewhat out-of-character in that scene, he went from very reluctant and hating Walt's guts to super excited a bit too fast for my liking.

Man, half the scenes with Walt are awkward lol. Every time he's almost caught and has to do some terrible life-saver lie.

His failed kiss attempt from Carmen.

Need to add this to the "most cringe-worthy" thread.

All of the above yes!

Walt's insensitive speech at school after the aircrash.

Every time he was in his undies - yuk!
(WHY every episode?!! I notice Bryan Cranston was also Exec Producer. Do you think he was also an egomaniac exhibitionist too? lol!)

Also if you compared his character to either Gus or Mike, who were both cool under pressure, Walt was always panicking. Even when he tried to appear cool, he would go begging people to forgive him, and ask them how to put things right. Namely; Skylar, Walt Jnr and Jesse. And he'd always run to Saul like a big baby every time he *beep* up.

I thought it funny that he always criticised Jesse for messing up, but Walt messed up in much bigger ways (which was the whole point of the show of course).

"Look at it this way; in a hundred years who's gonna care?"

Skyler tells Walt to leave

End of S03E01. Skyler goes on about Walt's lies, lies and lies. Skyler does not give Walt the opportunity to say anything since they both know it will be lies and excuses.

Hearing IFT from Skyler
As per your example. What was equally good was that Walt was taking opportunity by inviting Louis to dinner to divert from the conversation they were supposed to have upon her return from work. Instead Skyler turns the tides on Walt after the IFT confession and sits calmly to have dinner with Louis and Flynn, with Walt left in the kitchen.

Both scenes examples of brilliant acting and chemistry from Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn, and brilliant story-telling from the writers.

All of the ones OP listed are perfect examples. I'm not a fan of Walt's by a long shot compared to a lot of posters on this board. Even as Heisenberg he came off as such a dorky loser to me.

His "I AM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS" is always awkward to me because of how cringy it sounds to here him make a statement like that.

reply

Think that's a testament to Cranston's acting. He's not supposed to be Jesse James...he just wants to be Jesse James.

Cranston has that higher inflection in his voice that immediately changes him from dominating to weak. For example, when he was pleading for his life with Mike in Full Measures - that high voice (the one you hear in his other roles, Hal, etc.). Then once he gets his confidence back, gaining control with Jesse on the phone, he's back to his low voice self.

Every time someone refers to "I'm the one of knocks" as one of Walt's "badass" moments I consider it as the same as those who say Jesse's best bitch moment is "science, bitch!" Ergo, something that somehow lives along in pop culture but was never in the show as such.
