Series 5 got real depressing (SPOILERS)

Streaming this show all the way from the very beginning for the first time in a few months, i first watched this entire TV Show earlier this year, it didn't interest me all those years ago, but i thought i'd give it a go and loved it.

Series 5 got really depressing, the part where Jesse was held hostage as a drug making slave, it was so depressing, man. With the talent of the writers, you'd think they would have changed that situation, Jesse being imprisoned was the only thing that made series 5 depressing as well as Walt getting killed by the cops.

Depressing can be sort of exhausting...but it usually means the story is richer.

Give me a depressing story that is super compelling over a run of the mill laugh track comedy or "romantic comedy" any day.

and if you think this gets depressing you should watch the former HBO show Six Feet Under....now THAT is a show with hardly any happiness going on.

You're right about Six Feet Under, it's depressing as hell lol, i tried to watch some episodes years ago, it's too morbid, i'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, people sure do love dark stuff.

It's not so much what is dark and light for me, but what is interesting.

It just so happens stories are usually more interesting when you go into darker territories.

Arguably the most popular episode of Breaking Bad (Ozy) is one of the darkest too. Where sh!t really hits the fan. Where the consequences of so many decisions come to roost.

It's not as compelling in a romantic comedy where the problem (that suddenly emerged with 20-25 minutes to go til the movie ends) gets wrapped up conveniently in a neat little bow and all lived happily ever after.

Obviously there can be moments or stories that are darker and are be poorly done (Season 8 of Dexter) or just done for shock value (some of the horror movie franchises) but I still prefer to go that route.

*beep* happens

Ozymandias and Granite State certainly were among the show's darker episodes.

But really, the whole series is depressing.

When did Walt get killed by the cops?

When did Walt get killed by the cops?

Didn't you know? Everybody gets killed by the cops.

reply

The cops didn't kill him.
