I was wondering where the heck Meemaw was!
It was a great wedding though. Much more satisfying than Leonard's and Penny's Las Vegas disaster a few years back.
I'm afraid she might be dead seeing as how there's a 30 year age gap between the start of Young Sheldon, 1988, and the timing of Amy-Sheldon's wedding, which is 2018. :(
I just started watching 'Big Bang' regularly beginning this 10th season, finally gave it a chance after seeing some earlier episodes randomly on TV, already noticing differences between characters then and now.
There was an episode in recent years where Meemaw came to visit Sheldon and she took an instant dislike to Amy. She was played by June Squibb, who, if you ever saw the movie Nebraska, played the outspoken wife and mother.
Maybe....
June Squibb, who plays MeeMaw is very much alive. It's always possible that she was unavailable for the episode.
I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with time lines on Young Sheldon. I don't watch the show.
Wow! I thought I was late to the table! I finally started catching up around 3 years ago! LOL!
Haha! (^=^)
I've read the Big Bang creators had plans to write MeeMaw into the wedding episode but only in an off-screen voice role since they felt her character, being 90 years old, would be too health compromised to fly and travel to the big event. Due to time constraints, this plan was dropped. It would have featured Young Sheldon's Annie Pott's voiceover.
If you like Malcolm In the Middle, but more socially awkward, without juvenile delinquency, then give Young Sheldon a try. I got into both shows at the same time. Years ago, I did not appreciate Big Bang Theory's sense of humor but it has grown on me.
Ah Ha! Thanks for the info.
As for Young Sheldon, I may give it a go smetime. Somehow I didn't think that show would fly. I have been known to be wrong though. I guess I'll be late to the Young Sheldon table too! 😁
There was an article I read that explained the producers chose not to bring meemaw in as the characterization in her one appearance on Big Bang theory is so much different than Ann Potts portrayal in Young Sheldon that there would be an obvious inconsistency with Young Sheldon being aired right after.
It is a different style sitcom, a single camera instead of a three camera. The pacing is slower but the acting is very good. The early reviews said it was not good but I think people just wanted another BBT and it is not a joke every sentence show.
The kid that player Sheldon is great and the mother is played by Laurie Metcalf's (Sheldon's mom on TBBT) own daughter so that casting is great as well.
Ah...I didn't think of Leonard's mom, but she should have been there for sure! Maybe Christine Baransky was too busy with her schedule for her lawyer series.
Good catch! Would have been funny if she was there. That way, she would have to revert to her lawyer persona from Good Wife/Good Fight since Kathy Bates was also there, bringing out her lawyer performance from Harry's Law. We could of had a great legal court trial during Amy and Sheldon's wedding proceedings. What a missed opportunity! (^=^)
