other films with the same theme..

It's been a long long long time I didn't watch a movie this good.. at times I would remember watching 'Dirty dancing havana nights' when the pyramides or the music would be at it's most.. I just think it's beautiful. obviously the story is not comparable, but I enjoy watching movies where the culture, the country or the music play a big role as the protagonists.. where you know you wouldn't have enjoyed the love story as much if they weren't standing behind a pyramid or at a beach in havana..
Anyways, I guess my question is, do you guys know of other movies that ressemble this one?

it reminded me a lot of "monsoon wedding." there are also themes in it similar to "a fond kiss", henry jaglom's "deja vu", and "brief encounter."

I second the person who suggested "Brief Encounter," and I'll add another David Lean that this reminded me of -- "Summertime."

And I second "Summertime", and third "Brief Encounter", which is very similar in theme, though not setting. I would also recommend "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset". They are best when watched together, but if you only watch one I would recommend "Before Sunset". It's the better, more mature (literally!) film and more like this one.

I loved this film .. I'd say that similar films in terms of theme and/or atmosphere would be:
Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (they really go together and while they're beautiful on their own, they can only be appreciated fully if seen together. it's a quite magical experience. I envy anyone who can watch this for the 1st time), Broken English,
The Bridges of Madison County
Love Affair ( the 1939 version)
All this and heaven too

Great little film, found it on Netflix.
Similar themes, the music is key to the film, as its locale.
