The gun

Just finished watching the movie.
Overall I hated it: a bad excuse for a(n) (unrated) horror movie.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Anyway I've decided not too b!tch to much about the *beep* up plot, the not-so-bloody mary and the lame characters,
I just want to know: WTF is up with the orange gun? When you saw it in the beginning of the movie, it just looked like a damn toy-gun, and I actually thought it was suppose to be one until I saw the ending.

Does anyone else have something to say about this!? I think it's just plain stupid!

Really? Are you kidding me? Have you people never seen a flare gun before?

No, I have never seen a flare-gun.
But let's say it IS a flare gun. This raises the next question:
WTF is a flare gun doing in any other vehicle, but a boat!?
Why would she have a flare gun in her car?

You gotta be kidding me... (just when I thought the movie couldn't be worse)

Two possibilities, kevin shady:

1) Matt was taking the flare gun up for use on the boat, the boat that he also bought extra gas for. (The boat that, unbeknowst to Matt, was sold.)

2) The flare gun was part of an auto emergency kit.

It ain't worth worrying about. It's well within the realm of possibility.

This flare gun "problem" I do think just like giantsquid-4
"It's well within the realm of possibility"

They only think that made me abit disiponted about the flare gun, was that they showed it to well in the begining, just so you shuld know that it exist, and then you know... "aa yes it will come in the end". At least I was thinking that.

But almost all flare guns in real and in movies look like this.
The first poster, must not have seen that many movies.

We all fell alone...

Wasn't it Chekov who said, "If you show a gun in the first act, you must fire it in the last?" And what's Dead Mary if not The Seagull with more demonic possessions?

reply

Agreed. I saw the gun in the beginning and all I could think was, hey, I have that exact same flare gun. Gee, I wonder when that's going to come into play in a movie where they're in the middle of the woods all alone w/ crap cell phone reception.

And yes, I keep that flare gun in my car - it was a gift from a friend who knows how lousy my sense of direction is, with or without gps :) If I break down on some back country road and have no cell reception, I definitely want a way to be able to get someone's attention.
