I think they should adapt the manga to a 3 season series, 10 episode per season!. It's perfect for either HBO, AMC, FX, Showtime or Netflix! but more so for HBO or Netflix for me for that more cinematic feel.
SEASON 1 - ends with Light/Misa getting their memories erased (ep 1-15)
SEASON 2 - highlight the Light/Misa confinement ends with L and Water's death, and the orphanage scene (ep 16-26)
SEASON 3 - Light vs Near/Mello (ep 26-37)
Then I won't be watching season 3, thank you
shareHow do you turn 37 twenty minute episodes into 30 hour long episodes? That's an approximate difference of 15 hours, or about half the length of the proposed show.
It would have to be incredibly slow paced by comparison, and presumably you would have to add a lot. Considering the show mostly dealt in sheer suspense it's hard to imagine what could be added without padding it out, and risking the tone of the original material.
It would have to be much more concerned with side characters, and the morality of Light's actions
