do you agree with Yagami initial intent?
In the beginning he only wanted to kill criminals. But he ended up killing anyone who opposes him.
But killing henious criminals. Was that ok?

No. It achieves nothing. Killing criminals doesn't kill crime. He can't kill them unless they get caught and they're not committing crimes with the intent of getting caught. It's not like criminals aren't aware that they'll have consequences if they're caught. The 70% crime drop and end of war because of his actions is pure fantasy. All he's done is subvert the justice system to stroke his own ego... and what about crimes of passion or necessity? He's a delusional kid that develops a god complex because of the power dropped in his lap. Making the "new world" a better place is not his goal... It's his justification for his perceived superiority and becoming it's god
No. And not because i have a problem with people being killed, but because crime is not black and white as he believed. idk what it's like in japan but in america most crime occurs due to poverty. add in the corrupt justice system that disproportionately targets/sentences minorities/the poor simply because they can't afford proper defense. so do you even know if this "criminal" is actually guilty or not?
not every crime is/should be punishable by death.
had light killed some corrupt politicians, judges, lawyers and white collar criminals i would be able to take his plan seriously.
THEY SHOOTIN'! ah, i made you look.
Near said it best. "In the end, you’re nothing more than a crazy serial killer. That’s all you are. Nothing more, and nothing less."
shareWell, It's basically fascism. It's like Harry Callahan once said "If we invent our own vigilante justice then what's to stop people from killing you for looking at you funny or killing your neighbor for making too much noise" (Well, something to that effect)
Ultimately, if you try to make your vigilante justice a cult, then you have people with different morals who worship you. They will see a crime as trying to arrest you or just even just a minor crime.
I don't know that I really buy that he was interested in justice anyway. He was lying to himself. He was weak, feable, he didn't fit in, despite his popularity, and ultimately he didn't like people. He's a real "I hate mondays" type. Blaming "heinous" criminals for his hatred of the world is just another fuel injection for his superiority complex. If vanity were not one of his defining characteristics, and without the notebook, he could just as easily have been a random spree killer. The only thing that precludes him from being anything other than a good student is his limitations. It's telling how quickly he is corrupted by unlimited power, and how he forces himself on the world.
A lot of people think Light's behavior, when he's forgotten the Death Note, proves he's just a good person underneath it all, and that the Death Note warped his mind. Near points out the discrepancy. Not everyone who comes in contact with the notebook is as extreme as he is, and a truly good person would destroy it. Light kills because he likes it. The same reason as any other serial killer.
