Lewis and Endeavour: The Mortmain Connection

I have just watched the Lewis episode about the English Civil War re-enactors, set on the Mortmain estate where Hathaway's father had been estate manager.
Then I remembered the "Endeavour" episode where they have dealings on the Mortmain estate, and encounter a young chap called Hathaway. And I'm thinking "he can't be James Hathaway; could it be his dad, or just a coincidence of names?" Then it turns out he is Hathaway Senior in his youth.

(I was also reminded a bit of Brideshead Revisited, with James as a sort of Charles Ryder, returning to the splendid Catholic mansion of his youth, with Scarlett as a sort of Julia).

I enjoy such cross-references between Morse, Lewis and Endeavour.

Yes, and both episodes are written by Russell Lewis.

I'm in a minority opinion. On the Endeavour board, everyone loved the ep. I found it way too forced, it really turned me off.

I think it's a better episode from the third series, much better than the highly rated but truly forced "Coda".
