faulty premise to start...the ornamental plant they were digging up would not have grown there on its own but i guess the writers needed a reason to discover a previously buried corpse...more crapola to follow

It was a rhododendron which is used as an ornamental, was introduced for that purpose, but is also a highly invasive species that is found self-seeded in many woodlands from which eradication attempts are frequent. So nothing unusual there at all except the discovery of yet another body.
