Only gripe with this movie

I think maybe a dramatization of the actual Watergate incident, even if not very long, would have better brought home the gravity of what Nixon did.

But it's a minor gripe. Pretty much aces in every other category.

First, the actual burglary in which the men were arrested in the Watergate complex has already been portrayed on film, at the start of the (IMHO) excellent film, All The President's Men. Also, the entire "Watergate" saga played out over about 5 years, from the first White House discussions about illegally wiretapping and using the IRS to harass Nixon's political opponents, who were referred to as "enemies", to illegally interceding in a criminal trial by sending operatives to burglarize the offices of the defendant's psychiatrist, to criminally harassing and undermining his opponents for re-election, and on to the burglaries at the Watergate offices of the Democratic Party in 1972. The coverup was the desperate attempt to keep the long list of illegal activities from becoming known. Fitting it all into one movie would not be easy.

I have seen enough to know I have seen too much. -- ALOTO
