Question about Corrine (Spoilers)

I haven't read the book, I just saw the movie, but from what I understand Corrine was using Allegra's personal stories/secrets to write stories and get them published?

What the hell? That is a disgusting thing to do! Someone else mentioned in the book they get back together, do they really, and if so why?

Talking monkey, yeah, yeah. Came here from the future, ugly sucker, only says "ficus".

At the end of the book it says that Allegra got back together with Corrine. It does not say why.

Allegra got even with Corrine, though. It is detailed in the book and in one of the deleted scenes in the movie. Since Corrine liked to steal stories, Allegra told her about "Persuasion" as if it was an actual event, using the names of the characters. Allegra knew Corrine had never read Austen. Corrine submitted the story as her own work at the next meeting of her writer's group. It was immediately recognized and she was very, very embarrassed.
