Not buying Emily Blunt's American Accent
it kinda ruined the movie for me.
shareHer accent would ruin the ENTIRE movie for you? There was so much more to enjoy.
shareWell, it's kind of like Morris Weissman said in Gosford Park, 'Is she affected or is she British?' To me, she sounded like an affected American, which I thought was quite appropriate for her character.
I have to agree with gaucho8791, Hugh Dancy's accent was much, much more distracting. I think the only person who does a worse American accent is Michael Caine. Don't get me wrong, I like them both, but neither can do a good American accent.

I didn't even realize that was supposed to be an American accent until I read your post just now.

It didn't ruin the movie for me, but I didn't think it was good lol.
Lonely Chicago pie
It was alright. It fit with her Europhile personality that she spoke with a hint of British-ness.
And it's certainly far better than the last British actor I saw who tried to hide their accents. Gerard Butler's attempt to replace his Scottish accent in Machine Gun Preacher was hilarious as heck to listen to. Still, points for trying.
I bought it hook, line and sinker.
She was great.
