Favouriter Character?
Which one are you most like ?

I have to say in all honesty my favourite character is Prudie because of how she evolves from this uptight annoying girl who doesn't understand her husband to a more emotionally stable woman who is happy with who she is and who takes action to rectify what's gone wrong in her realtionship.

I think I'm most like Sylvia in terms of that I am quite quiet and bookish. Although I can also see elements Allegra and Bernadette as they are both somewhat free spirits.

Favorite Character: Prudie. She developed the most of all the characters and I really loved her story and how in the end it wasn't what you expected. I also love how on the outside shes so posh and a bit snobby but on the inside she's probably the most wounded out of all of them. I really love that about her. Plus Emily Blunt played her, so I'm a bit biased.

Most like me: Probably Allegra because not only am I a lesbian but I'm also very spontaneous and wild like her.

Prudie and Bernadette are both awesome.

Grigg was really great too.

I loved the rest of the cast, but not really their characters.

Great film.

I have to say Prudie.

She's annoying and "prudish" but you really get a sense of why she's like that. I think her story attracted me the most.

She had a confusing, possibly neglected childhood and so she's had to excel above everyone around her hoping to escape.

She wants excitement and adventure but doesn't want to end up like her irresponsible mother and so she's drawn to this exciting young man after her husband ignores her.

Same here. Considering what her mother was like, it's amazing Prudie turned out as well as she did. She didn't know who her father was (all she had was a photograph of someone who might have been him), and her mother gave her what must have been a very unstructured childhood. Her emotional needs as a child must have been severely neglected. Still, she managed to make something of herself and find a decent man to marry, though like her, he still had some growing up to do.

I liked the two different scenes at the library dinner, the first of which showed Prudie really messed up, grieving not just about her mother's death, but also about her lack of a good upbringing and serious marital problems. It was so heart-breaking. She was also very confused about being attracted to a younger, exciting and incredibly good-looking man, who was aggressively pursuing her. She managed to conquer all of her demons and a year later we see her at the next library dinner, happily married to the same man and obviously expecting a child. She even seemed to be on very good terms with Allegra, someone she clashed with at the beginning of the film. I got the sense that Prudie will be a very good mother, much better than her own mom.

Grigg. He was very sweet, I loved his relationship with his sisters. Also, it must have been quite difficult to be the only man in the group AND the only one who had never read Austen before.

Though I saw this film when it came out, I just watched it again and loved it again.
My favourite is Prudie - under the snobbish, superior exterior she is so fragile and also Emily Blunt plays her, and I love Emily. Grigg is really cute and brings some much needed tostesterone - albeit sweet and geeky - to the group.

Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe I will have another beer!

Least favorite character: tie with Daniel and Prudie. Favorite character: Sylvia. Maria Bello was excellent in this character. "Sexually altered bitch", nods and strides away. Lovely!
