What's the consensus for those who've read the book?

You liked it? You didn't like it?

I've only gotten about 1/4 of the way into the book and I've fallen asleep twice. No kidding. It is soooooo boring.

Maybe the problem is that it's an audio book, I normally prefer to read it myself but I had the opportunity to get the audio version at my library, I've listened to several books this way, so I tried it. IDK, maybe it's just me, but the speaker is REALLY distracting. I find myself listening to her speak and thinking about the narrator instead of listening to the book. Her portrayal just seems off and so does her accent, she sounds like she's narrating an actual Jane Austen book instead of narrating a book about a J.A. book club. This whole thing is supposed to take place in California and the accent sounds like it's anything but. But even if that wasn't the case, I still haven't made a dent in the book and don't feel inclined to. I understand it's important to set up the backgrounds of the characters but Joselyn's background goes on and on, I haven't gotten to the other characters' yet.

I'll get the actual book and give it another try but so far it gets negative marks from me. I really dug the movie, it's the most important reason why I decided to try this out, so for that reason alone I'll give it another shot. So for those out there who read it all the way through, does it get better? Should I give it another shot or am I wasting my time?

Coincidentally, two movies I liked very much, that were adapted from books, ended up being huge disappointments to me also: Memoirs of a Geisha and Under the Tuscan Sun. How odd considering a lot of times it's the other way around.

Oh well.

Just cuz u think my opinions r wrong doesn’t magically make ur’s right. Stupid trollz...

I didn't much like the book. The first time I tried to read it (before seeing the movie), I couldn't get the characters sorted out. It was easier the second time, after I had seen the movie, but the book was still very different.

I didn't particularly like the book but I really liked the film. Now I'm wondering what I missed and if it's worth reading again.

I thought the book was fantastic. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the trailer doesn't seem much like the book. I guess there's only so much you can squeeze into 90 minutes.

The book is good, but I like the movie better since the characters are more connected to one another.
