After seeing this movie for the first time, I was insanly suprised by the critics rating:
33 on metacritic?

This is one of the most realistic/violent/action movies i've ever seen.
Might even watch it twice cuz it's kinda funny too.
WOW. The critics are just a piece of ****** mother******!
It didn't show a simplified black & white version of reality, so some of the critics went as far as calling it fascistic.
My guess is that they identified too much with the liberal smartass pot smoking students and were upset that they weren't potrayed as heroes of the story :^)

In retrospect, the criminal justice system of that era was definitely too lenient.
Critics need to understand that it's not their job to discourage people from watching "bad" movies. I've never avoided a movie because of negative reviews. But thanks to positive reviews, I've seen plenty that I otherwise might have skipped.
