Terrible conclusion

I thought the first half of the movie was pretty good. I was watching the second half.... waiting for some revelation that would tie the whole story together. ..but Jesus the ending was so poor and lazy.I felt so cheated; the whole story was just an uninteresting piece of family drama. Also, some characters did not add any depth to the story(that dude from the office and Kerri Russell.)Just my opinion.

I agree about that. I just watched this film, and I wasn't satisfied with the ending either. I was hoping for a resolution or something as well.

what are you talking about? The revelation was that Louise was not Julia's daughter, but Julia had finally healed enough that it didn't matter to her any more. Therefore Louise was instrumental in Julia's healing. I think you've been watching too many Michael Bay movies that subtlety is wasted on you.

lol, I agree with tony. Julia needed to let Maggie and the past go and by the end she was able to. That's the resolution.

I agree, i couldnt believe that was the end. I might sound stupid sut I still dont know if Louise was infact Maggie or not, i would like to believe so, i kind of think no, but it never really spelt this ot one way or another!!!?

I don't know. The obvious thing to 'wrap it up' would have been to have Louise be Julia's daughter but that would be a bit obvious and a bit cheesy.

What we're given is in some ways more interesting. Julia needed a daughter figure and Louise needed a mother figure. In the end, it didn't matter that they weren't actually related.

I thought the ending was beautiful. :-) They found eachother and will be there for one anotherr from now on. It really shows how you don't have to give birth to someone to be a true parental figure in someone's life. I'm adopted so I really got alot out of this film.

That's a very interesting angle to come at this from. Thanks.

I agree; it does reaffirm how parenthood is something we choose and not necessarily the same thing as biological relation.

I like the ending too.
Well at the end there is a hope for both of them.

I thought the ending was beautiful. Julia moved from lying to herself about the possibility of Louise being to her daughter to being honest with herself and accepting that Louise was helping her heal, something which after all these years, no one else was able to do. Such intelligent characters and writing...something we see so rarely in movies.
