Tuesday, September 26, 8pm on CBC. The series itself begins on Tuesday, October 10, at 9pm.
For more info and discussion about the show (we're currently playing spot-the-promos-and-fiming-in-Vancouver), check out my Yahoo group, Stolen Briefcase:
It's two hours long (about 1 hour and forty minutes without commercials). According to a recent article, the show will also repeat on Friday nights at 11pm.
I don't know about it showing in the UK. As DVI showed, that can be a tough market. It's been bought for a January release in Germany and France and Program Partners has bought it up already for a U.S. release, though.
You're welcome. See my reply to Holly--the current plan is to reair each week's ep at 11pm Friday. So, your wish has been granted by the changeable faerie folk at CBC.
Okay, here's the latest skinny (this has been officially announced and is on the CBC schedule):
CBC will be showing first-run Intelligence episodes three times per week--Tuesday nights at 9pm and 12am and Friday nights at 11pm.
So, if you want to check it out, CBC is giving you every opportunity to catch it and no reason to avoid it (i.e. if you're a Canadian House fan). Well, aside from the fact that the other two showings are late at night.
The short answer to your question is "yes". Program Partners has already snapped up both DVCH and Intelligence. DVCH will apparently be shown in the same rotation as DVI. Intelligence, the last I heard, was still in serious play among some heavy hitters. It's too early to tell for sure, yet, but it does seem to be catching on up here, especially with those younger viewers CBC covets. If it's a hit up here, expect it to catch a big market down south, which means most of you should be able to get it once it does come out.
Now, that pesky second question, "when". That I don't know, but you can always sign onto The Concrete Cave if you're interested in keeping up-to-date on the show.
DVI=Da Vinci's Inquest. DVCH=Da Vinci's City Hall. These were Haddock Entertainment's previous two projects. DVCH was the sequel to DVI. DVI is currently in its second year of syndication in the U.S.
Local tv guides keep showing late-night DVCH repeats coming on CBC, but so far, CBC's schedule isn't showing any. So, I don't know what's going on there. It looks like Intelligence might be taking off, though. If that really does happen, expect everything ever made by Haddock and his principle actors to get a reairing.
Finally got to see 'Champagne Payday' yesterday since our CBC affiliate was having problems with audio last Tuesday. The series so far is definately living up to Haddock's talents...
"Intelligence, the last I heard, was still in serious play among some heavy hitters."
Snowy, I realize I'm sounding dense here, but can you clarify this sentence?
Earlier in the summer, soon after Program Partners snapped up the rights, there was talk that they might interest some bigger fish to buy Intelligence than they had DVI: namely, the networks.
If the broadcastr networks get it, American viewers will only be able to comment on the cinematography. God knows they won't hear much dialogue with the sections cut out for "broadcast standards"
It would probably be better if a cable network like Spike or HBO gets it.
The funniest part about the pilot was that they only blanked some of the f-words, but they made sure to blank all of them when they repeated it.
That didn't stop Haddock from negotiating two of them per episode--which he faithfully gives to either Tracey or Scott, who both gleefully spit them out.
