I just saw that its been released through much of Europe this last month and will be rolling out to a bunch of other countries around the world via the Hallmark channel in the coming months. (US in September it looks like)
What do you guys in UK (and anyone else that can read this) think think of Intelligence?
Be careful about the Wikipedia info, as it had the date for the UK release wrong. It's a minor error, but all things considered, you should probably take the September release in the U.S. with a grain of salt.
It's great, I'm really enjoying it. I'm hooked, and now I'm waiting for season two to see what happens Jimmy in the bathroom! I recognised Ian instantly as Huck Finn, takes me back 79/80s ....
From US (watching via CBC's Buffalo, NY broadcast)- I find the show to be very intreging. You know, you watch one episode and you just gotta watch the next one to see what happens. I didn't think that I'd like the show at first, considering I only watched it because Shane Meier is on it, but now I'm anxiously awaiting the next season to begin.
I really like this show. Watched the first episode and was intrigued. This is a very well written and acted show. The only downfall I have is that hallmark keeps changing the timeslot. I had finally figured out which days it aired but then they changed it again. The only way I was able to figure it out at first was to tune on the hallmark channel everyday between 9:00 pm for a week until I found the right day it aired. Now I don't even know if they still show it. It's sad because this is a really great show.
Shane Meier is just one of the brilliant people on the show. You've got to think, everyone gives the writers and directers the credit, but what about the actors who play out the work. I think that not only should they get credit but what about the footage, the Director of Photography and the lighting guys. Everyone forgets these little things, yet these are the things which set the mood, and what about the camera man, and yet, without he or she, there'd be no Intelligence so let's here if for the crew. Let's here if for the actors and the writers and the directors, without all these important people this show wouldn't exist.
That's all I have to say. It's one of my favourite shows. I just want all the people who help create it, to get the credit that the writers, actors and Directors do too.
From The Netherlands: I love this show! The Hallmark channel started it a few weeks ago, and I'm totally hooked. At first I only watched to see Ian Tracey (who I "rediscovered" since the DVD release of Huckleberry Finn), but the entire series is great. Tomorrow episode 4 is aired, so I have a lot of episodes to go before Jimmy Reardon is locked in the bathroom. Beside Ian Tracey (who is still a great actor), I like Klea Scott and John Cassini very much.
Jimmy's my favorite character, but I love Mary and her little crew, too. They're just starting to gel in ep four, but they have a lot of fun--that conversation they have about the "five thousand dresses in her closet" and which ones are their favorites, is a total hoot. Wait until Old Spy Guy shows up. He and Eddie are great together. I hope the writers do more with them this season.
From Detroit, Michigan, USA, watching on CBC's channel 9. I love this show; it's one of my favorites. I am a big Klea Scott fan and her presence was what drew me to the show originally. The storylines and acting keep me coming back.
I'll have to check out the Wire sometime, I hear good things. Ive stayed away cuz The Corner, the mini series that spawned it I thought was pretty bad.
Anybody know if the UK has any comparable crime dramas on the telly? UK gangster movies are raw!
Traffic? That's a really interesting comparison. The same sort of ambiguity, the same general grittiness. Good one!
The closest current U.K. production I can think of offhand would be Spooks, before it got silly. The Aussies did Phoenix ages ago, but have never seen fit to release it on DVD. :-(
I tried watching the Wire but didn't find it as interesting or intriguing. Intelligence is so much better. I finally watched the last episode of season one and am now waiting for season two.
Yea Bob was great. I actually started liking Mike near the end, stupid but loyal and that loyalty grew on me. Is it on netflix.com still? I just signed up for netflix.ca and it's not available there, not sure if it ever was but it is listed. Need more shows like this, hope it either continues one day or inspires more to be like it. The Wire was great, when I made this thread I hadn't seen it yet and just this year finally got around to it. Good intelligent television the both of them. Need more Omars and Bobs n TV.
