wtf was up with the mic in every shot?!

Seriously.
That was the funniest part of the movie.
Characters would be having a serious conversation about scholarships and such and then the mic would be showing out of nowhere lmao
Also, what's with this movie and 21 talking about how badly they need a scholarship or they're not going to school, when in reality they CAN go to the school, they're just gonna have to pay for everything. WRONG message for kids who want to go to college and can't afford it. Take out a damn loan and apply for financial aid.

and who the hell is gonna see this movie and go "my god! thats what i should do for school! holy hell this "college" blew my mind! i know what to do now!" wtf? ok...

Oh, God. This comment again?

It's almost never the fault of the movie. It's the projectionist that screws up and doesn't have it framed correctly.

u r right. it's the projectionist. i didnt see any boom mics at all at my screening.

reply

Okay, I will grant that the projectionist had the movie running way too low, but I refuse to believe that it was that persons fault. The boom came way too low into the shot too many times. Hell, as they were trying to get into the bar, it was peeking out from in between the guys faces while being directly behind the main main character's head. The offenses were far too bad and numerous. I counted at least 25 different scenes and 30 different angles from which the boom mic (two different ones in fact) could be seen.

reply

Yes, it was "that persons" fault. It was projected out of frame.

Projectionist, schmectionist. The mike should never be visible in any frame of the finished movie, no matter how the projector framing is set. Probably low budget didn't allow reshoot of sloppy boom handling.

reply

Trust me, it's not the movies' faults. Even high budget movies have that going on. It's how they throw the reel together and put it up.

i didnt see a mic in any shots. wtf?!

Just because you apply for aid does not mean that you will qualify either. When I applied for a student loan (in Canada) I was rejected because they said that by their calculations I SHOULD have enough in the bank to pay for it on my own. I have no idea where they figured I was hiding all my money ...

They had this problem with Disturbia. As someone who worked projection for a few years back I am perplexed by this. How does it become a framing issue? Shouldn't this typed of issue be taken care of in the dailies or editting phase? How does someone making $7 an hour have to take movie goers venom over professionals?

That's a big part of the problem. It used to be that film projection was a skilled profession. Now that so much of it is automated, theaters assume they can just hire minimum wage people to push a button. However, no one is supervising to make sure everything is running smoothly, and whenever there's the occasional problem there's no one on site who knows how to deal with it.
