If you haven't watched this film yet, then it ain't a shame that you aren't familiar with the name Marcus Dunstan. But after this film (His debute) you'll love him.

When the Chase family moves to an isolated house in the middle of nowhere in Detroit, Arkin is hired to fix the windows and the doors. Later he meets his daughter and his wife that has a debt with dangerous sharks and needs money, but his week payment is not enough to pay her debts. Arkin plots to heist the safe of Michael Chase during the night to raise the necessary money. However, when he arrives in the house, he finds that a sadistic criminal has imprisoned the family and planted traps everywhere. Arkin seeks a way out of the deadly house to save his life.

John Stewart proves that he is an excellent actor beeing very good in this movie. The rest of the cast is also decent but their lines are scarce. There are some incredibly scarry scene's for example when Arkin tries to open the safe and suddenly hears the lock of the front door open. Not sure what or if he heard something he continues to open the safe until he hears the creaking stair which means someone else is in the house and is comming towards Arkin. An incredibly scarry scene and the eerie silence just makes it a lot scarrier.

The camerawork was also very good. There are some nice shots where the camera films from the ceiling so you see the different rooms where both the killer and Arkin are in. The killer, who looks like he walked away from a giallo film set basing on the mask and the leather gloves, is verry creepy. Another awsome thing about this movie is the amazingly good looking gore. There are many sadistic scene's with very realistic gore.

The Collector was an amazing experience and i'm glad that the same director is gonna make the sequel called The Collection.
