Ugh... I prefer horror that tries to come off as realistic
God, I can't stand horror movies that are so over the top with an invicible killer that seem to teleport and have magic powers. I think the concept of a psychotic killer could have been interesting, but the killer pointlessly setting up traps (really, he had the parents, there's absolutely no logic in setting the traps), the killer not being affected by having a bunch of knives falling on him, and then somehow having the time to set off the house and get to the ambulance without being seen by the cops (not to mention, magically ramming the ambulance off the road) just suspends disbelief way too much.
These types of horror movies would be so much more effective if they were more grounded in reality, and came off as something possible in the real world. Everything that happens is done just as an excuse to show off more gore.
For example, Joy Ride was a pretty effective movie because it came off as something that could actually happen. Then they went the whole invincible slasher magically teleporting route for the sequel.
I don't know who these types of movies cater to but it's certainly not my cup of tea.
