Anybody see the Alternative Ending? That got me so angry.

How could somebody do that? Thank god they never used that. It just made me angry. I hated how the film ended. I'm always "the good guy wins" kind of person. But in the alternative ending, when he manages to escape the house. He sees the girl and the killer inside of the house and then just points the rude finger and runs away. Good thing, that it didn't end that way. But if it did, oh just got way to into the movie. It's freaking brutal. But I wish he saved his wife and all that :(

I love the alternate ending! When we got to the point were he climbs out the window just to go back in,I was like a stereotypical black person screaming "No! this is the point when you say *beep* you. Im out." It's far more realistic to do that and call the police as soon as possible. I think he was saying *beep* you to the experience of it all not to the little girl. Fans of the genre should appreciate the other ending. He's thinking oww my hand! my *beep* hand!

reply

Alternate ending was better. Let the cops do their work, not like the clown they put in it towards the end.

reply

*beep* I would've been saying '*beep* you' to the little girl too. She had like, what, an hour to come out and say 'Oh I'm here.' And she chooses to do it when the guy is safe? *beep* that...

Excuse me, you're a hell of a guy. You know I really got a thing for American guys.

reply

Exactly. I do all this work to get out the house and you wait until I am out to show yourself. Bull isht.

reply

The alternate ending was clearly a joke (and if used, would have made the movie only an hour long). I thought it was hilarious. If I were a director and could afford to shoot extra scenes like that, I would definitely make hilarious alternate scenes - either for people to laugh at, or to use in fan edits. That ending was hysterical. Had he just walked away, that would be one thing... but the double-middle-finger? LOL. Awesome.

reply

btw I hope they dont forget to make an alternate ending like that for the sequel.

reply

Agreed!

i would have liked this ending,

(he got away helped his wife with the money, they start living like a regular
family again also with the girl he adopted.
One day he comes home from work, sees his family dead on the floor.
And the girl he adopted standing next to the dead bodies with the same mask that the killer had,and a knife in her hands.
She was actually the daughter of the killer.

reply

Really? are you serious "pram d"!!!you forgot something ..she didn't need him to adopt her...she was a senator (or something like that) daughter...and also she wasn't the worker's daughter

reply

that looks like another great ending you wrote

reply

LoL I thought you guys were joking until I got farther down the thread! I gotta see if it's on Youtube!

We Are The Corps!! "Left the GL boards after two years when the trolls showed up."

reply

Oh come on, it's a movie. of course it wouldn't end that way. its a movie. of course he is going to go back in to save the little girl, because he is the good guy. but I agree, real life, that's what would have happened...and I think Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton put that in to show the realism of what should have happened...but it being a movie, had to keep him fighting.

reply

I thought the alternate end fit his character and was very funny. But I was thinking they just did it for a laugh. Maybe the actor just ad libbed it and they kept it as a Alternate ending. Funny stuff

I agree with the others that the alternative ending was done as a joke. Probably in response to people who say things like "who would stay there?" "who wouldnt just get the fook out?" on those kinds of movies. its like well heres the alternative "child in trouble? frick it im out, i got a sore hand and ear screw everyone else!"

reply

i really thought you were joking about the alt ending i just saw it on youtube
that was messed up glad they didnt do that ending at all. josh stewarts character was awesome

reply

Unless they extended it with him contacting the police. It's a realistic ending, more about "live to fight another day". Is it the most heroic thing he could have done? Hell no, but he was there for a sole purpose and that family wasn't on his agenda. It's a gritty and controversial alternate ending, but that's why they test screen films.

LOL Relax they're just joking and having fun with this ending. It would have cut the movie by like 30 minutes and left so many questions.

The ending to this movie pissed me off. When Arkin first escaped and then saw the girl at the window I was like "*beep* it arkin, just run!"

@lorenzoocon

Actually it was very unrealistic for Arkin to go back in there for that little girl. Anyone that just went through such a situation that Arkin went through would be far too traumatized to even look back at the house, let alone go back in there and help the girl out.

I just wanted Arkin to run because that would've been the exact same thing I would've done. I wouldn't have even stopped to look back and I likely would've escaped thinking that the little girl was never even in the house. Even if I did know she was there - I honestly would not go back for her.

Lorenzoo, it's not that easy like you say, pal.

Your first mistake is bringing yourself and real life to that discussion. Things don't work like that. You don't know the context of each situation. So, it's better focusing on the movie itself.

Just remember the plot: Loan sharks. Arkin must get the jewel to save his family. If not, they're all dead.

You enter a house full of traps. You notice that a masked man rigged the house with grisly traps, including acid. Basically everyone was killed by that same man.

You're wounded in the process, but managed to get out. You notice there is another survivor there...Will you really come back to that rigged house?

Can't you call the cops, the Feds? Will you risk your life and your family's life ( remember the loan sharks) to save a probably dead person? Will you risk your life trying to fight a man that is basically devil? That's why we have cops and police to deal with stuff like that. You're no hero.

It's common sense, pal. Nobody would do that, at least not if you're Arkin. You're just feeling like that, because it was a little girl. However, if instead of a little girl, you had noticed a man, would you come back to save him, lol? No way.

It's not about not helping people, it's about common sense. Who's to say that the collector couldn't have rigged a door or window with explosives or detonators? Would you bet on it, coming back?

Actually I was surprised with Arkin's reaction of coming back for the girl, but that's because it was a little girl, thus meaning our hero must do something right or major audicences won't relate to him. We all know this is a load of BS, because he was owned during the ending anyway, lol. That wouldn't have happened if he hadn't returned to the house.

However, then we wouldn't have him back for The Collection...

reply

I agree with Lorenzoo on this one. But I think it is more along the lines of Arkin seeing the girl in a way like his adopted daughter. He probably figured "What if that was my little girl?" Just a thought.

No matter where you go there will also be critics.

No one has brought up this question: if Arkin does decide to take off once he got outside the house the first time, does The Collector pursue him or continue to search for the girl? We don't know.

My guess would be that he goes after Arkin. The dude may be a sociopath, but he's not stupid. He wouldn't take the chance on police surrounding the house while he's still in it and ruining his fun. Therefore, the girl would have been safe by staying where she hid until help finally arrived. Or until TC caught Arkin.

reply

i am not sure if he flipped off the lil girl specifically. the lil girl was actually worthy of caring about. she didn't intentionally make TOO much problems for Arkin unlike Jill. i wanted Hannah to be saved, by anyone (cops or Arkin). i don't hate the fact that Arkin escaped & flipped off the Collector--i don't think he directed that gesture towards Hannah, cuz she was both innocent & helpful. if anyone thinks Arkin was malicious towards Hannah, then that person is probably just misguided.
