The emergency services were the wrong saviours

Towards the end of the film I was really hoping that the gang that set him up on the job would turn up fully armed and give the collector some serious *beep* Even if they all died it would have added some excitement.

But then the producers wouldn't have a sequel and no possibility of earning more dosh through a franchise. So the baddy had to get away. Stands to reason - don't let a crappy plot ending get in the way of another pay day.

...it's just another dumb film, get over it.
