But leave the cats out of it

I don't know if Arkin tried to save the cat or used the cat as a decoy. I thought he tried to save the cat at first and forgive me for this, but I laughed because Arkin is always trying to save somebody and they end all up dying. LOL!

Don't think it was anything like that, I think he just wanted the cat to shut up so he ripped it off the floor which ended up leading to its demise.

Ahh...cat lovers, always so extreme Well people die in horror movies, you know..humans,like you? What's the big deal when an animal dies? They're only stuffed "toys" anyway...

^ Word.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

^ l immensly enjoyed this post. What a good laugh, classic! "Most neurotic and can't seperate fiction from reality" LOL

This movie is graphic and disturbing...but I still watched and enjoyed it....then the cat death came. That's when I was like "wtf man!!!! Why have a prolonged scene with the cat in the acid and then killing it with the window?!" I'm such an animal person, and not just that a cat person lol

I felt the same, I was really enjoying all the gore and the human torture and then out of nowhere, horrible scene with the cat. I thought it was unnecessary, really. I don't care what ANYONE says about "human life is more important" and "it's not even real!" I absolutely hate it when animals die or suffer in films.

For people who aren't bothered about it, that's great! But I really can't bear it. I had to fast forward the rest of that scene so I could continue. My cat looks just like that cat so it was horrible.

I guess there's no real way of explaining why it's so upsetting - it just is. It's like a visceral, raw reaction when seeing it. I love gore and horror, but not with animals.

It wouldn't have mattered to me if it was a cat, dog, hamster, or even a possum, it was sad.

Sad when the hot daughter dies, too. And the parents, just not as much. At least the little girl made it out.

The main guy was quite brave and heroic for a ex-con thief.

Its fake. Get over yourself.

This series is filled with violence against humans which are, guess what; animals.

I love animals as well and do not want to see any REAL animals hurt either, but to make comments such as these is just ridiculous. Animals have no way of defending themselves? You never been bit or scratched or poisoned or otherwise hurt by an animal? Then I can only assume you have little real time experience with actual animals.

*beep* just the other day my rat tried to bite my cat so the cat bit me, then a little bit later the rat bit my band-aid covered finger because she didn't know what it was. I have lots of experience with animals (both wild and domesticated) but even so I have been injured by most of them; animals are very capable of defending themselves if they know they are under attack or feel otherwise threatened. Some animals are just jumpy, for most its instinct, fright/flight or fight.

Saying that animals don't know what going on is even more ridiculous, what do you live in a vacuum? Animals (such as cats and dogs) are very sensitive to emotions and actions, they know when a fight is going down, heck they even know when you are about to move.

No this does not mean we should abuse them, just the opposite. What happened to the cat in this movie made sense within the confines of the established setting; the ani-hero type even tried to save the cat.

Last, you think its okay to hurt dogs and humans, but not cats? You sound like a speciesist:

Agreed. The antagonist of the movie is akin to a spider in many ways, as it is. Whatever gets caught in his web is grounds for death. Human, cat, ect.

I know it saddens people to ever see an animal die in a movie BUT we must never forget that a.) It's fiction so no animals were hurt just like no humans were hurt and b.) It's realistic to the story as the killer shows no sympathy for any living thing beyond the spider.
