I loved this film. The killer is completely insane and one of the most prepared psychos I've ever seen. His traps were great, the kills were cool, the plot was original - a robber breaking in to find a killer already inside and the characters were for the most part likeable - except the idiot wife. I don't know what people are expecting, it's a HORROR movie not some Oscar worthy film. It's from the makers of Saw and your whining about the plot? Just leave.
Aha, given up huh. Did you never wonder why nobody else bothered to reply to your thread? Try another one and see how it goes. Just try and be more intelligent about it. You may be surprised with the response!
BTW, it's still a stupid film for stupid people. Just saying.
No, I just don't like talking to the mentally challenged. The fact you continue to reply shows how petty and desperate you are. Intelligent? I'm surprised you even know the meaning of the word because you are very clearly not intelligent.
That's YOUR opinion, something you don't realise many other people don't share. Yet you continue to try and force other people to share your opinion and fail miserably. You also are clearly mentally ill and add on to that your anger issues. You really should seek help for your behaviour and issues but judging by your personality I doubt that's going to happen any time soon. I'd say no need to reply yet again but I have no doubt you'll try and get the last word again. Another one of your (many) faults. Goodbye.
IMHO, your rudeness not only smacks of desperation but demonstrates a severe lack of any ability to critique or accept an alternative view - but I've already said that and you were rude then, even making an unfounded attack on my gender. Ooh er! I'm concerned you may be beyond all help.
I also suspect your limited vocabulary is little understood by yourself as you clearly did not ignore my last comment - neither will you ignore this, nor will you ignore any of my future comments.
Due to your ineptitude, however, you still haven't managed to dissuade me from considering this to be a dire film. That means I still regard it as being poorly conceived, ineptly written, badly directed and containing little merit by way of entertainment.
Take a lesson from your last poster, who made a fair point, and let's see if you can match it by employing more than two words, holding back on the dumb crudity and demonstrating some semblance of intelligence (though I won't be holding my breath!).
Hey storm-the-dog-pile, Fancy seeing you here. Since you took the liberty of stalking me I thought I would pay back the favor.
While on the subject of rudeness, you shouldn't talk since you are rude too. Why can't others be rude? You mean it's only OK for you to be rude but no one else can be?
Also don't think you do much thinking. You just basically insult people and you don't even critique movies, you just insult those who disagree with you. It's just like on The Cube board, you feel your opinion is the only one allowed and everyone else is an idiot.
There is no way to discuss a movie with you because you don't care about other people's opinions, that is, unless they agree with you.
Yes, I know you are mad at me and this will be proved by you having to post a reply where you will try to insult me and talk about other boards I was on and it will have nothing to do with anything.
"sad storm-the-dog". voicing an opinion is one thing, and absolutely we all have the right to voice our views on a film or a topic but being plain rude to someone for the sake of it especially through the anonymity that the internet gives you would infer that you are unhappy in some way, perhaps you're angry at something else in your life and using what is effectively cyber bullying to feel better about yourself or the situation you're in?
You're immediately going to refute this of course, probably no doubt first and foremost due to the fact that there is some truth in it i imagine.
Why else go and pick arguments with a stranger who you've never met? over a film no less.
I'm not asking you this to irritate you, i'm just curious as it's something people often do and i thought i'd enquire as to why you think that is?
Anyway i haven't seen the movie...it might really be terrible, mm i'll find out i guess.
Thank you for your reply Simon, but I suggest you read all the thread; your bias is showing. The OP began by attacking people who were...
whining about the plot
Then telling anyone who disagreed to...
Just leave
Does this help you? Do you agree?
Then you asked...
Why else go and pick arguments with a stranger who you've never met? over a film no less.
I could ask you the same question of you. And this is a film critique site.
Then...
Anyway i haven't seen the movie
Try. Then post your thoughts. We'll all look forward to reading them.
Oh, and it would have helped your case if you hadn't began with...
"sad storm-the-dog"
It's so unnecessary, maybe even rude, to slight people who you've never met, don't you think? How would you like to be called "Simple simonwilliams555"?
By the way, Simon, it really is a terrible film.
...it's just another dumb film, get over it. reply share
firstly i misread your name, also your first post was to the OP that they need to get out more ...just because they liked this movie.
also i'm not picking a fight with you, or insulting you , i'm just observing your behaviour and commenting on it in an a completely unbiased way.
i don't know the OP i don't know you , i am only commenting on what i see and it seems like you were berating them a bit, i don't really care enough to argue with you over it, i was just raising some questions as to why that could be, it could be that you were just half joking as the nuance of conversation is lost in text online
now back to the film , personally i enjoyed it , i took it for what it was a simple home invasion movie , a fun thoughtless slasher film.
i don't think a film needs to be particularly mentally stimulating or original to be fun, i don't think in any way that it is a great horror film but it's a decent enough movie to kill a couple of hours watching.
Then I accept your apology over the name-calling, but you've still missed the point about the OP's response to people who were criticising the film (something we're all entitled to do). Maybe you are still biased. My first response was, as you put it, "half joking". I would have called it poking gentle fun, as the OP was quite intense in what he/she'd written. I was then flamed and the "conversation" went downhill from there. Read my comments elsewhere, I'm not usually rude, but nobody likes being flamed. Besides, Jams25 posts an awful lot on IMDb, he/she should know by now what to expect when you flame people. Jams25 can defend him/herself.
As for your critique on The Collector. I think you summed it up perfectly with these three words...
thoughtless slasher film
though I don't think Jams25 would agree with you. Best keep that quiet. Fun? Not sure if that was the intention.
...movie to kill a couple of hours...
Nice pun!
...it's just another dumb film, get over it. reply share
You're so wrapped up in your own arrogance that you can't see that you never even offered Jam25 a counter critique in your response to his/her initial post. You were just insulting him/her. No need to reply, I won't be responding.
everything you stated about storm-the-dog-pile is so true but don't waste your time trying to get through to storm-the-dog-pile. He's what they call in the psychiatric world: nuts.
Your analysis of him or her is extremely accurate. Also storm-the-dog-pile doesn't enjoy any movies. What he enjoys is fighting with others on the boards. I also think he might be in love with me because he follows me to other boards which at first I didn't know he/she/it was doing. Yeah, he has become strangely obsessed with me.
I agree 100% with your post! Definitely one of my favorite horror films! I found it to be incredibly suspenseful when Arkin is aware of the Collector in the house and the Collector seems to suspect someone is there. I didn't like the 2nd one as much except for its climactic fight and end scenes which blew me away.
Don't worry, I thought it was incredibly tense too. You just never knew what new booby trap was laying in wait, or how close Arkin was to being spotted by The Collector. I'm planning on watching the sequel tomorrow night.
I also agree with your opinions on this film, it's one of better ones to come out of the USA in a long time! My heart was pounding in several scenes! The only thing I didn't like was the ending, I thought it was overkill on an otherwise perfect horror movie! Thanks for your post!
