Just a great movie

I'm watching it again after a few years and I'm just impressed how it moves along. Some great acting, tight script, nice Boston locales...

Can't argue with that. I have watched it a few times over the years.

The robbery sequences are excellent...fast paced and hard hitting.

And the acting is spot on. Affleck is good here, Renner is excellent as is Pete Postlethwaite.

Thinking I maybe due for a re-watch now...

Really??

things i learned after watching the town

- After kidnapping somebody, you may be feeling paranoid that the victim may have recognised you. Don't worry. There is a fool proof way that you can deal with this situation whilst not arousing the suspicion of the police. Simply stalk then make contact with the victim only days after having kidnapped them.

- Advice for the inside man - the specialist whose job it is to disable the company specific high tech security devices. After the robbery lay low for a day or two. Then afterwards feel free to get together with all your dangerous felon amigos again. In fact go one better. Go do a barbeque on the front garden in full view.

- 4 bank robbers can be an even match in a gun fight against the entire Boston police force

I "learned" that a senior FBI Special Agent, despite all the weapons and tactical training they receive at Quantico, will follow a felon he KNOWS the identity of, whom he KNOWS is impersonating a BPD officer, and whom he KNOWS is carrying an automatic weapon, and he will do this following with NO BACKUP (despite having dozens of colleagues on the same block), and will then alert said felon to his following withOUT first TAKING COVER, and withOUT AIMING HIS SHOTGUN at said felon... yepper... lol

Why did you quote "learned" at the bottom and not at the top? So on the one at the top were you serious you learned something and at the bottom, you were being sarcastic? I don't understand.

I agree 100%

I still think Gone Baby Gone is Afflecks best film to date, but I did love The Town a lot, especially the late great Pete Postlethwaite was a proper nasty bastard in this. Along with Wind River and The Hurt Locker, this is Jeremy Renner's best work. Affleck himself is a solid lead. Also big praise to Blake Lively shows more to her then the girl from Gossip Girl, which she did more darker works like this.

Great film

I agree Gone Baby Gone is his best film, but it's also quite a different movie. Gone Baby Gone stayed with me for days, wondering what I would do in that situation. I certainly wouldn't watch it more than once or twice though.

reply

Agree, makes you wanna see Affleck direct more crime movies.

It definitely is a fantastic movie with an exellent Jeremy Renner and Affleck is great as well. This and Inception are my top favorites of 2010
