The Prison Visit Scene

This scene has always made me think of the famous "I could have been a contender" On The Waterfront scene. The basic theme of the dialog is the same - the main character speaking with a family member about an event which was essentially life-defining type of moment. In the case of On The Waterfront, he is referring to the fight he was forced to blow which essentially ruined the rest of his career ; showing how his brother never really looked out for him and always put the gang above him. In the case of The Town, he is referring to day his mother left/died which essentially ruined his childhood ; showing that his father was never there for him even before he went away to prison.

Two great scenes - very comparable in their themes and impact in the movies.
