" You know Claire, we are a national organization"

What the hell is that supposed to mean? She isnt an idiot. Don Draper played the perfect douche bag fed through out this movie. Didnt care about justice or right or wrong, just as long as he got is man....

Claire was willfully ignorant when she not only refused to sever all contacts with Doug MacRay even after learning who he was and what he was up to, but she knowingly covered Doug MacRay's ass in whatever ways that she could, but she helped Doug become a fugitive from the law by warning him away from her house by a cute "Sunny Days" message.

I'll also add that when Adam Frawley correctly pointed out to Claire that the FBI is a national organization, that's what he meant, precisely because the FBI is a national organization. That was more pointedly emphasized when Frawley said to his men "Get the description out. We know what he (Doug MacRay) looks like. Get the description out. We'll fid him." Frawley meant that they'd find Doug MacRay no matter what.

Come to think of it, FBI Agent Adam Frawley and his men were the only people I sympathized with in The Town.

She just didnt want to be involved. FBI Guy knew that. I can see why she did it. Frawley didnt care about right and wrong one bit. He cared about winning, getting his man. He was willing to screw just as many people to get to doug as possible. Wasnt rooting for MacRay but Wasnt rooting for FBI either with Frawley either. I think that was the point. He was pretty unlikable.

I stand by what I've said, JDoe18. Doug MacRay was a violent criminal with a mile-long criminal record, and the fact that Claire knowingly and deliberately made dupes out of FBI Agt. Frawley and his men by warning Doug away from her house, right when the Feds were on the verge of nabbing him and bringing him to justice before the law was willfully ignorant and vicious, to boot. The only mistake that FBI Agt. Frawley made was not warning Claire to keep her big fat trap shut and not answer any of Doug's phone calls.

Imho, Claire should've been given a suspended sentence and put on probation, with no right of appeal if she violated the probation by keeping in contact with Doug MacRay in any form whatsoever. The way Claire acted overall towards FBI Agt. Frawley was utterly disgusting.

reply

I stand by what I said. I admit that Doug should of been caught but Frawley was a jack wagon too. He cared about no one or nothing other than getting his arrests... Very unlikeable character. Insulted other officers and those around him.

Hmmm Utterly Disgusting? That is pushing it dont you think. You cant even slightly empathize with her?

reply

No, I don't empathize, let alone sympathize with Claire Keesey. My opinion of her stands. The fact that Claire's bank was knocked over at gunpoint by Doug MacRay and his men wasn't her fault, but any sympathy and empathy that I had for her went totally out the window...for good, when Claire not only became involved in a wholesale romance with Doug MacRay, but acted in a totally arrogant, bitchy way towards FBI Agt. Frawley, who was trying to help her, in addition to refusing to sever all contacts with Doug MacRay even after learning who he was and what he was up to, courtesy of FBI Agt. Frawley.

Very interesting you take it this way as I dont think the film intended people to take it so black and white. Very interesting.

reply

Well, different people take things in different ways, and I'm no exception. I'm of the opinion that FBI Agt. Frawley was way easier on Claire than she deserved.

If you think that FBI Agt. Frawley was a dirty cop (which I don't think he was.), you might want to rent the early 1970's film "Dirty Harry", a film about a dirty cop if ever there was one, which starred Clint Eastwood. Reading the book on which "Dirty Harry was based is highly recommended, also.

doug was spying on her from another apartment. i think he only phoned her to test

reply

Doug was out in the street when he was spying on Claire. The fact that he was doing that to her is another indication of what kind of a guy Doug was...and not a nice guy, either. It doesn't matter whether he was testing her or not.

FBI Agt. Adam Frawley should've warned Claire to keep her big, fat trap shut, and not to answer any of Doug's phone calls, keep contact with him, or to accept any gifts and money from him. The fact that FBI Agt. Frawley didn't issue that kind of warning to Claire was a big, stupid mistake on his part, also.

reply

well he didn't really need to take that precaution like. surely knew for sure that fbi would be around claires ha

i dont see doug going around to claire regardless of whether she answered phone to him

Claire didn't seem to care about right or wrong, either, nor did she turn out to be that likable or sympathetic. I didn't root for her after her bank was robbed, precisely because of all the stupid, asinine things that she did (i. e. getting involved in a wholesale romance with Doug MacRay, refusing to sever all contacts with Doug even after learning who he really was and what he was up to, accepting expensive gifts (i. e. a diamond necklace) that Doug spent his blood-stained money on, covering Doug's ass whenever she could, deliberately making dupes out of FBI Agt Frawley and his men when they were attempting to do the job that they were assigned to do, thus helping Doug MacRay to become a fugitive from the law and from justice, receiving stolen goods (i. e. Doug's blood-stained loot money), and spending that money on the renovation of the Charlestown ice hockey rink, instead of finding more honest ways to procure the money).

Agt. Frawley was the only one I sympathized with in this film.
