I'm Delight It's a Bomb, Both at Box Office and With Critics
It's time for Hollywood to stop feeding us the same old recycled garbage, whether remaking lousy movies (Friday the 13th), turning lousy TV shows into lousy movies (almost of all them), turning decent TV shows into lousy movies (Get Smart), remaking great foreign movies into garbage (Talented Mr. Ripley, etc.), and in this case, taking a beloved comedy series, and remaking it into garbage and then foisting garbage sequels upon us. (And the director's next project? Remaking The Karate Kid. What a guy...)
Steve Martin has made a number of great, original movies. I'm thinking of Bowfinger and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Both are great movies, both made money.
This one fails in both areas, and I'm delighted.
