to those wjo liked part I

i watched part one last year and i really enjoyed it, i mean it wasn´t that brilliant master piece but i only watch the movie to enjoy some laughs and it did the job alright!
i read alot of creticism about part one from most of the viewers,, BUT THOSE WHO LIKED THE FIRST PART: WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT PART II: IS IT WORTH WATCHING OR IT WAS REALLY THAT BAD TO GET A RATING OF 4??

reply

Well, i didn't feel it was horrible but didn't find it even half as funny as the first one.

Go see it! I've no idea what's up with all that lambasting, whining and pining for the original Sellers' films. These 2 parts complement each other just perfectly, and standing on their own feet strongly! Actually, you'll have to try real hard to make me laugh, and, notwithstanding, I guffawed at this one. (Check out the bit where Clouseau is opening the stable, for instance). PP2 slumps a bit towards the end, but still, it's quite satisfying. Great film. Steve Martin's back with the vengeance (wink-wink Irons). Paragon of slapstick!

I thought that Steve Martin's first effort was very funny - and that the critics have perhaps forgotten how workmanlike and repetitive some of the "genius" Sellers entries were. This one was funny, but not as good as the last one. The direction played too much on repeatedly watching the horrified reactions to Clouseau's mistakes, Cleese is nowhere near as good as Kline as Dreyfuss, and the "international team of funny accented detectives" rather diluted the impact of Clouseau himself. But it was alright, and I laughed throughout (particularly at the edgy "Little yellow friend" joke that challenged the originals...) Mind you, I've always thought that Arkin and Moore were funny as Clouseau, so I'm not as precious about Sellers as other fans...

volcom84: now that i have seen it, i couldn´t agree less with you! i really enjoyed part one and thought it was hilarious(though it was silly), but this sequell was really bad, the gags were unorigial and the story was really lame, eventhough i had lowered my expectations after the many negative comments i yet found it subpar,,,

I enjoyed both Steve Martin films! thought the second one was better though, even though some bits are way over the top. I liked the references to the originals and Cleese as Dreyfuss!

This was a very funny movie. Equal to Martins first one in my opinion. Laughed the whole time.
