A disgrace to Sellers' Masterpiece

It's bad to enough to remake a classic comedy like the Pink Panther
that stands fine on it's own. Steve Martin has somehow managed to suck
every bit of humor out of the role, and create what has to be the worst
remake of all time. Steve Martin is making millions of dollars by
stealing Peter Sellers' famous character, and ruining it. Peter Sellers
is the true Inspector Clouseau, and this movie is nothing but a cheap
rip off of one of the funniest films of all time.

Bravo!!!

Well said!!!

I would only add that Martin hasn't been funny since 1975.

I do not mind remakes as long as it is good. This movie and the first one are DEFINITELY TERRIBLE! They both suck. I only watched the sequel because my friends recommended it (they are still my friends (I am a forgiving person)).

I don't think these Steve Martin films take anything away from the Peter Sellers movies. You could have a hundred different Clouseau's and Sellers would still outshine them. Much like Connery does as Bond.
I watched the first Steve Martin re-imagining with an open mind and once i got used to his weird french accent and slapstick style, i quite enjoyed the film.
If anything I thought Kevin Kline (who I normally think is brilliant) and John Cleese (another brilliant comedian) were dreary compared to Herbert Lom as Inspector Dreyfus. I notice no-one is giving those two a flaming.
Steve Martin may not be the definitive Clouseau but props to him for not trying to copy Sellers. He's not as bad as people are making out and the films are just what they're meant to be, fun for kids.
The only thing i wish he'd do, is dye his hair in a few movies because no matter who he plays his white hair is so distinctively Steve Martin its distracting.
