MAJOR flop

I don't mean this to be a hate thread, but the truth is that the PP 2's production budget is not available ANYWHERE, unlike almost every other movie, even movies that are quite more expensive than this one.

Considering that a flick like this would cost 50-60 million minimum (mostly to pay Martin and the guest stars - The first one costed 80 million), and also that it made little money (43 million worldwide, compared with the 158 of the original) makes me suspicious about HOW many they actually spent on this, to the point that they could be embarrassed to admit how much money they actually lost.

PP2 will probably only make under 35 million in the US. I'm sure it's going to be booted from another 500 or so screens next Friday. Fans of film should hope that it flop so bad that the person who greenlighted this film gets fired. Or at least flop so bad that even if Martin wants to bastardize the Pink Panther series for free, that they still won't make another.
I'd guess this had a smaller budget than the 80 million of PP1. Probably around 60. I loved that they promoted the film in Germany. I'm all for a world tour in promoting this POS film, that will mean more losses.

You are undoubtedly correct.

Even Lord of the Rings "only" cost $94M, and there were no truly top-tier stunts / CGI in the film. It was entirely the cost of the celebrities.

Flop is putting it mildly.
