Well, some of the critics, are in fact, very inteligent people, or very sensitive for a quality of art. Every one of them is subjective (Thank God for that), but still, they are not ordinary people. If you like it as a whole (not just few jokes, that all in all takes up 5minutes of the entire movie, or one good idea), then its nothing bad and frankly I envy you, because then you can enjoy a but* load of movies, that I can stand only with a huge, burning, Cheech and Chong in my hand...
Its not about giving them what they want, fu*k the critics, the priority should, by all means, be creating something unique from your mind... Not everybody can be Kurosawa, and not everybody likes Kurosawa. To continue my drunken ideas, if somebody was as good as Kurosawa, there will always be critics, that would say: "He´s a copycat, it has been done before..."
So just create...
But all critics, have one thing in common... They dont just say it sucks, its an insult to cinematography. They explain why they think so.
And just to deny, what I wrote above, is it not good to have these "vultures" standing on your shoulders, even just for sqeezing the best juice out of you...? Freedom is good, but guidance is not so bad either...
Excuse my French. Maybe it doesnt make sense, but, thats just How she wrote the murder...
