Stop listening to film critics!

When I saw The Pink Panther with Steve Martin, I ignored the film critics. I'm very proud that Hollywood is not giving the film critics what they want. I'm planning to see The Pink Panther 2 this weekend because I could careless what the evil film critics say. All they are trying to do end filmmaker's careers. I'm proud to be a film critic hater. I hope that Hollywood keeps up the good work of not giving the film critics what they want.

reply

what do the evil film critics want ?

reply

the film critics just want a decent movie that can be enjoyed.

Especially when the original Pink Panther with peter sellers was so good.

Uhm...So, let's see the rules of the OP poster and fans about critic's feedback when they like a movie:

- If audiences hate it, but the flick receives some kind of positive feedback from critics, then it's good because it has "critical acclaim";
- If audiences love it, but it's destroyed by critics, then the critics are uptight morons who are always wrong and are against popular taste;

Critics don't matter, fella. If you like a movie, good for you. But don't pretend that because you like something is great, or even good. For instance, I like the Punisher '89 movie, even if I know it's very, very poor (to be generous): bad acting, low production values, very little to do with the comic, etc. And don't even think about checking what the critics' thought about it! But even if I like it, I wouldn't in a million years pretend that is a great movie in any sense!

More or less with Martin's PP movies. First one was pretty bad. You enjoyed it? Good for you! But there is no discussion about how dumb, rehashed, predictable, tired and childish the flick was. It was poor, even for Martin's standards.

Yeah!!

And stop listening to your car mechanic, your doctor, dentist, and chiropodist.

Experts suck!

Also, don't listen to anyone whose opinion is different that CHSWFAN022!!!

Especially if they think that Martin's PP movies are total excrement, worthy of spitting on and tossing into a fire, or burying deep within some catacomb where no living person will ever be able to view it again.

Let me ask you... Would you eat bull's testicles if food critics said it was the best tasing food ever? Likewise would you stop eating your favorite food if food critics said it was disgusting?

Granted critics are experts - they are trained to know what's good and what's not, but you can't always take the word of a critic as something that applies to you.

I mean enjoying a movie isn't exactly brain surgery - the level of expertise required to be a critic is very different from being a doctor, so your argument "you would listen to experts therefore you have to listen to critics" is just a terrible analogy. And btw, sarcasm makes you sound like a douche.

Now, i agree with you on your comment as a whole, but apparently you have never tasted http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/rocky_mountain_oysters Yum!

reply

i'm with you.
all film critics seem to have lost their sense of humour.
so have many people on this board.

Steve Martin killed the movie with his so called acting... I know he supposed to be a dumb detective but.......

That really isn't their intention. If all they want to do is end filmmakers' careers, why do they give positive reviews to other filmmakers? IDIOT. Just because critics didn't like it, doesn't mean everyone else has to. Critics are people too and they have their own opinions.

It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

reply

Well, some of the critics, are in fact, very inteligent people, or very sensitive for a quality of art. Every one of them is subjective (Thank God for that), but still, they are not ordinary people. If you like it as a whole (not just few jokes, that all in all takes up 5minutes of the entire movie, or one good idea), then its nothing bad and frankly I envy you, because then you can enjoy a but* load of movies, that I can stand only with a huge, burning, Cheech and Chong in my hand...

Its not about giving them what they want, fu*k the critics, the priority should, by all means, be creating something unique from your mind... Not everybody can be Kurosawa, and not everybody likes Kurosawa. To continue my drunken ideas, if somebody was as good as Kurosawa, there will always be critics, that would say: "He´s a copycat, it has been done before..."
So just create...

But all critics, have one thing in common... They dont just say it sucks, its an insult to cinematography. They explain why they think so.
And just to deny, what I wrote above, is it not good to have these "vultures" standing on your shoulders, even just for sqeezing the best juice out of you...? Freedom is good, but guidance is not so bad either...

Excuse my French. Maybe it doesnt make sense, but, thats just How she wrote the murder...

Let me get this right: you are PLANNING to watch the movie and condemning the people that have seen it, purely because you hate them?

Let me explain my viewpoint; everybody is allowed their own view - even those that get paid to voice their view - sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I don't.

After watching the movie I would suggest that they have been very, very kind to PP2.

reply

I really gave this a chance but it was just so painfully unfunny, the attempts for laughs were so forced & Steve Martins voice was not comical but irritating.

reply

Dude, I agree, *beep* the critics. Well, that's what I usually do and sometimes i witness a rape such as this. Boring. Stupid. Not funny. Spitting on a name of Peter Sellers, who is, if I may add, one of the best actors of all of the mothafu*ing time is just... damn... that's stupid. *beep* you Steve Martin! Go and *beep* yourself. *beep* all of the Pink Panther crew, including the producers and other *beep*

reply

I've seen the originals and the two new ones. And I think that these movies are funny.
It's really sad, that the die hard fans on the original movies are so die hard that they can not say or write anything good about the new movies.
It's just entertainment.
