Floppity, Flop, Flop, Floppity, Flop, Flop

...Look at Pink Panther Flop.

To quote the latest Foreign box office report on Box office mojo: "The Pink Panther 2 proved to be a huge bust overseas as its 25-territory expansion, yielding just $3.9 million over the weekend. "

Now that it is finally being quickly booted from screens in the US, it is officially a flop. It was only having just mediocre numbers the past week because it was in 3200 plus screens compared to other films that were just in 2300 screens. It may edge to number 10 this week but it will fall to 15 throughout the week and should be on sub 1700 screens next week.

Steve Martin's reign of terror on classic film franchises and films in general should end.

It finished out of the top 10 this weekend. I think it will lose another 1000 screens next week. My prediction of sub 35 million can still hold.

It's down to 14th place. It's only making $64 dollars per screen. That means it's playing when no one is in the audience. What a waste of electricity. I think theaters should just pay money not to even bother showing it. It would definitely mean more money to theaters for not having to waste power heating/air conditioning empty theaters.
I think we should see the DVD for the PP2 in late March.

Wow a new low 57 dollars per screen. I mean it's showing about six times a day in some theaters so assuming they get one or two suckers to pay full price and see it in the evening. It's definitely playing in empty theaters. Movies in 40th place and lower are making more than 57 dollars per screen. I can't believe its on 2600 screens right now. Assuming just two times a day it plays in an totally empty theater(which is unlikely it's probably three or four times) that's over 5000 times the movie is playing and electricity and heating is being wasted. I'm sure theaters would rather just pay the studio 57 dollars in exchange for not having to show the film six times a day.
