Pink Panther 3?

Is Steve going to work on a third one?

reply

The director said there would not be a third because this one flopped.

reply

Probably couldn't prevent a DVD sequel, but I doubt Steve would return for that.

that's bad..
personally i like Pink Panther, it is not stupid hehehaha comedy, it has a bit of a charm, professionally made movies by the way with good actors.
Maybe for some people this kind of movies don't make sense but they REALLY DO in a long run - that's the whole idea, to make something funny and charming.
There should be a niche for this sort of movies, doesn't matter if they make money or not.

That was before this one flopped.

It's a shame. These movies aren't bad. They aren't great, but they are still vastly superior to the films Blake Edwards made towards the end of the series. (things went downhill after "Strikes again", with the films getting worse and worse. Not saying Returns was good. Just funny). I could go for another one.

Ah, well, reboot later one. Find somebody who has the great timing of Steve Martin, but who can actually pull off the physical shtick (which is his weakest point in the films-he sucks at the physical shtick. It's actually embarassing).

Steve Martin is bad at the physical shtick? The guy practically re-invented the physical shtick....tstststst...

reply

Why......? Why why why?

These types of movies won't hurt for it's slap-stick comedy and I love it!

I'm not working out.

There's the posobility that they will do a sequel but with Ed Helms as Inspector Clouseau.

reply

REally? If Steve's not gonna be Cluseau..then...IDK...

I hope they make a third. It's a great and fun franchise!
It's a breath of fresh air among all the "American Pie"ish movies that get's released all the time!

I just googled "Pink Panther 3." According to Wikipedia "Martin also stars in a sequel, The Pink Panther 2, released in 2009 and has also revealed that he is negotiating on The Pink Panther 3. However Robert Simonds announced in December 2009 that following the excellent DVD sales of the 2nd Pink Panther sequel that a 3rd film would likely feature another actor and that he was in negotiations with The Office star Ed Helms to take over the role of Clouseau."

There's no source, and there wasn't much else to promise a 3rd movie. As disappointing as I have to admit Pink Panther 2 was (it had its moments, but it's disappointing after Martin's first attempt, let alone Peter Seller's original masterpieces) I'd love it if they were forgiving enough to make part 3. And I like Ed Helms, but I definitely think Steve Martin deserves another chance. I think he's the only actor who could actually stand out in Peter Seller's shadow.
