1. A Shot in the Dark- As far as I'm concerned, one of the funniest films ever made. **** stars
2. The Pink Panther (64)- Like the first, one of the funniest, but definitely not there yet. I do kinda, however, prefer it when Clouseau is bumbling and foolish, but still strangely competent. Which was done in this, Inspector Clouseau, and the Steve Martin films. *** and 1/2 Stars
3. Pink Panther Strikes Again- Herbert Lom as a Supervillian out to get Clouseau? brilliant. Not as good as the other films, but more outlandish and insane. *** Stars
4. The Pink Panther 2- Steve Martin's Clouseau is the Clouseau I always wanted to see. Like in the first film, he's a bumbling foolish man who is still sharp as a detective. Problem is, his naivity and lack of understanding. This one has a great script that plays to Martin's strengths (he's not nearly as physical as in the first one, which is great, because he can't do the shtick). This movie was unfairly maligned. We all want Peter Sellers back, but that's not going to happen. *** Stars
5. Inspector Clouseau- the scene where Clouseau is trying to get change for the phone is enough to recommend a watch..... ** 1/2 Stars
6. Return of the Pink Panther- This was a huge step down for the series. Instead of a story that involved great gags, this is where the series became a series of joke after joke with a story tied loosely around the shtick. Thing is, it's brilliant shtick. You really can't complain, since you will be having a hell of a time watching it. ** and 1/2 Stars
7. The Pink Panther (06)- This movie is very uneven. I don't think they quite new where they were going with Clouseau this time around. The film feels like an adult film stripped down to a family film last minute (which I found out was actually quite accurate). Jean Reno reminds us that he's one of the best, while Kevin Kline seems to be phoning it in. It's not too bad. But it's not too good either. **1/2 Stars
8. Son of the Pink Panther- This is the first film in the series I saw. So I do have a soft spot for it. Unfortunately, it's much better as a kid than as an adult. ** stars
9. Revenge of the Pink Panther- When people complain about the Steve Martin films, I like to point out that Peter Sellers DID star in this one.... Which has a few funny moments, but ends as a series of jokes rejected from old Warner Cartoons. We end up with a climax at a fireworks factory in Hong Kong, and its probably the single biggest let down in the series. * 1/2
10. Curse of the Pink Panther- How come whenever they tried to ressurect the series without Clouseau, they ended up creating a character who was essentially the same? It's pretty much Revenge of the Pink Panther, but with without Clouseu. A huge, boring disappointment. * 1/2
11. Trail of the Pink Panther- One of the worst movies ever made. 0 Stars
