Such Potential

Personally I love the Godzilla films where the big G is a villain and it has elements of horror. The original 54 Godzilla , Godzilla 85 and Shin Godzilla. I thought this film was steering in that direction. All those great scenes of the unseen horror. The first MUTO scene and the tidal wave scene. And then it all kind of goes out the window with the excessive cut aways and the baffling decision to make Godzilla a hero at the end. I know G is a hero in a lot of films but this film wanted it both ways. One thing that always bugged me was how dark the city battle was. There should have been flames illuminating everything like the flames of Hell. They even set up the decent into Hell during the HALO jump scene. What missed opportunity.
