There has to be some payoff and buildup. When you use this to save money instead it doesn't work.
also Bryan Cranston's character was interesting, had strong motivation and is beloved. Instead we got "im a soldier and love my family". WOW what deep development. Please let me cheer for this guy! please kill off the interesting scientist so we can only follow him!

Easily the worst decision in the whole 'MonsterVerse' franchise was killing off Bryan Cranston. This series has lasted better than expected. But I think a major issue is a lack of a recurring human cast to tie things together. At best, they may get two film appearances. Cranston could had been involved with Monarch since this movie if they kept him alive.
